I haven't heard it asked for.
And to that end, I've emailed my idea in to just add a string to the TARP money, that 10% or so has to be used for liquidity for American industry. That WAS the point of the whole financial bailout, to prevent further crisis. Clearly that's worked out well.

Don't get me wrong...disband the UAW completely, and re-hire all those peeps, but pay them a lot less. If they don't like it, then they should go get a degree and quit their whining.

The problem is that some, if not many, of the existing factories are in states where the factory owner does not have the right to say, "You do not have the right to join a union" to their employees. That's why so many foreign automakers (perhaps all?) who build factories in the U.S. build them in the south, where such laws do not exist.

Just makes damn sense. EU/NA standards parity would be pretty easy to come to, especially with a Car Czar in place, that's a good thing for that person to oversee, so no one can cry about their single digit MPG SUV sales and muck it all up over that.
