I currently own a vehicle that will have to be warranted/serviced by one of the big 3. My service contract is with the dealer. Somebody will keep making parts. How is this an issue of anything other than perception?

But people don't care about that with an airline, they care about cheap tickets... though IMHO flying on a bankrupt airline is scarier.
If they're bankrupt, how are they maintaining the plane?!

I guess the point is, there are other options: mergers, loans, reorganization, etc. The unfortunate part is that the leadership of the automakers seems to think free money from the government is the only option. I guess that narrow mindedness is what got them here to begin with.

If Chrysler goes bankrupt and Wrangler Unlimiteds end up at Biglots for $10k, I'll just buy 2 upfront. One to drive, and one for "warranty purposes".

I have no problem with this. In fact, based on my experience with VW dealers over the past 14 years, I'd prefer to be able to take my car anywhere.

I believe results of polls can tend to drive some people to vote or others NOT to vote. You know; you think your guy will win by a landslide, so you don't go to the polls...then he loses.
