    What DFWguy said...

It would be great if SAAB could break free of the dead weight of GM that I can't see having benefited them much at all. And GM sure didn't know what do with them. I just can't see it happening successfully.

Maybe Volvo and SAAB can team up with FIAT, who just said they wanted a partner, and then you'd get Italian for Beginners...

I'm telling you, Saab, Volvo, one company. Give Saab the weird performance stuff, and Volvo the safe-as-a-vault family haulers. It could work.

What else do they have besides Saab and Volvo? Is Sven cranking out some bizzarre, ice-powered supercars behind his local watering hole?

    Let the ReSwedefication commence!

As much as I love my 9-3, I must admit to missing some of the quirkiness of the "real" SAAB years...

Our current cars are our 3rd and 4th SAABs. The "GMification" / decontenting of the brand has been quite sad. Calling the GM/SAAB customer service line is a training session for going postal. While my logical side truly understands the importance of saving GM, my experience with them says give the execs a pair of cement overshoes and a trip to the river bottom.

@dfwguy: I've heard the exact same thing from every single Saab owner I know. Usually with more spittle and obscenity, though. If the sheer vitrol and spite of customers could be converted into bankable assets, GM would be covered.

@SCROGGZILLA RAIDS AGAIN!!: No, no, no. You're doing it wrong. "Børk! Børk! Børk!" is Danish, we Swedes say "Börk! Börk! Börk!".

Now write "Börk! Börk! Börk!" one hundred times on the blackboard (or message board of your choice).

The US hasn't approved squat, despite all the headlines in the Detroit papers.

It's kinda like when you're 10 years old and trying to set up a sleepover at your best friend's house. You asked mom, and she said "well, it's OK with me but I still need to talk to your dad."

Sure, you can pack your sleeping bag up if you want, but it's not time to get in the car just yet.
