”2009 Audi A5 Cabrio To Go Soft?
With all the rumors swirling and expectations high for a drop-top version of the Audi A5, we knew we should expect the inevitable spy photos of the 2010 Audi A5 Cabrio (or convertible, if you'd prefer) to show up sooner or later. Though we weren't completely sure whether it would have a good ol' rag top or a folding hardtop, but with this grainy photo it seems we've got some visual evidence that the convertible top may indeed be of the soft variety. Though we'll have to wait for the 2008 Paris Motor Show for a full reveal, bit-by-bit the specs are filtering out on the 2009 Audi S4 — or is it 2010 Audi S4 — we're still confused by Audi's lack-of-model-year naming scheme for product. We already knew it would get a supercharged (which could mean turbosupercharged, depending upon which report you read) 3.0-liter V6 backed by a 6-speed twin-clutch lovingly referred to as "S-Tronic." What's news is that traction control/AWD will be provided by the Quattro system as expected, and that the updated Audi will run the 0-to-62 (0-100 km/h) in under six seconds thanks to approximately 350 HP on tap. KBB Names Ten Best New Road Trip Vehicles, Family Truckster Suspiciously Absent
There's no set definition of what is and what isn't a road trip. Do you have to cross state lines? Is there a minimum mileage? Should it be measured in years? We don't have answers to these questions and neither do the people at Kelly Blue Book who put together an interesting mix of vehicles to meet the task, ranging from the obvious choices like the Dodge Grand Caravan and Toyota Prius to surprises like the Audi S5 and Bugatti Veyron. And then there's the VW Eos, which we'd rather not be packed into for a long journey. The full list and press release below. More »

We're in a bit of information overload here, with a ton of new information and photos on the slightly angrier, slightly more powerful and probably all-around better lineup. Take a moment and feast your eyes on the pretty new 2009 Audi S3 with too much booty in the back right there in front of you and hit the jump for the huge data dump and galleries on all the rest of the A3/S3 lineup after the jump.

2010 Audi S4 To Reveal New Supercharged V6
It looks like Audi's got a V6 planned for the next generation of the S4. Yes, if Car und Driver's sources are correct, the 2010 Audi S4 will get an all-new forced-induction 3.0-liter V6 — potentially wearing the designation of 3.0T — under the hood. The big buff book believes this new supercharged V6 will generate somewhere close to the 340 horses found in the soon-to-be-late S4's 4.2-liter V8. If the strategy works, the manny-tranny S4's fuel economy would see a boost of 20%. What's that you say? You don't want a V6? More »2009 Audi S3 Sportback Breaks Cover In Cat Carrier?
Though not the next generation of the Audi A3 line which winked at us from the cover of Autobild, this shot of what appears to be the new Audi S3 Sportback sure does look good in a shrunken, well-powered wagon sort of way. Snapped somewhere in Germany behind the oppressive bars of what we're assuming to be some sort of Audi facility, the upgraded four-door hatch gets a set of 18 inch wheels and some aggressive body work. We're told to expect an engine to match that aggressive-looking exterior — specifically, a 265 HP 2.0-liter turbo four with a six speed manual or a flappy paddle shifter. We're happy to see the more powerful version is just around the corner, as one of the biggest complaints of the A3 is its relative lack of motivation for the price — though we suspect all that motivation will motivate Audi to command a meaty premium over the standard A3. 2009 Audi S4 Avant Spotted?
According to the forum fan-boys who think the World of Audi, this is the new Audi S4 Avant. While that certainly looks like it's got the s-line bumper and bigger brakes — at least one of us is telling us we should be hedging our bets on this. But another one of us wonders who we are to argue with the folks from AudiWorld? They've already told us so much about what we should expect from the new S4. They've already confirmed — via unnamed insiders, of course — the S4 will debut with a new 3.0-liter TFSI twin-turbo producing 330 horses. Despite a 10-horsepower drop, they say zero-to-60 times will fall from the current model's 5.4 seconds into the low five-second range, all with a fuel-economy gain from 17 mpg to over 20 mpg. So — what say you — is this the final exterior of the S4?[Motor-Talk.de via AudiWorld]
iron man
Compared to iRobot, Iron Man takes it easy on the R8 in the trailer, showing only maybe two seconds of it as the trailer begins. We're not sure if this is going to be a hit or not, but the Audi R8 seems a bit pedestrian for someone who is supposed to be a freaky genius billionaire. On the other hand, an Audi S5 seems about exactly appropriate for Virginia "Pepper" Pots, the secretary played by the lovely Gwyneth Paltrow. The film is going to be directed by Jon Favreau, so expect it to be "so money" or something like that. Full press release below the jump:

Over the Back Fence: More on the New, Bi-Turbo Audi S4
Earlier this month, Fourtitude speculated on Audi's returning to a bi-turbo V6 setup to the next S4. Now, AudiWorld says they've confirmed with unnamed insiders the next S4 will debut with a new 3.0-liter TFSI twin-turbo producing 330 horsepower. Despite a 10-horsepower drop, they say zero-to-60 times will fall from the current model's 5.4 seconds into the low five-second range, all with a fuel-economy gain from 17 mpg to over 20 mpg. And aside from besting the BMW 335i, the return to the turbo six means tuners will have a wider range of options for making even more horsepower. The new, B8-platform model will also get Audi's new vectoring quattro-drive system, which will allow on-the-fly torque allocation to all four wheels. No word on price, but expect an auspicious, champagne-soaked debut at the New York Auto Show in April '08. [AudiWorld]

Audi to Bring Forced Induction V6 Back to the S4?
Sure, Audi's 4.2-liter V8 is an engine for the ages, but some purists cried foul when that eight-snogger became the default powerplant for the S4. Wasn't forced induction an Audi hallmark? Time marches on, and word from Fourtitude is that Audi may be reconsidering the S4's eightness. Insiders say Audi's been testing a mechanically aspirated engine on Germany"s Nürburgring, though are split on what type is is. Some say turbos, some say kompressor, and a vocal few say Audi's going to use VW's twincharger technology to combine the two in one batshit version of the 3.0-liter V6. Whatever it is, it appears Audi's planning an assault on the BMW 335i, with more than 300 horsepower from this new powerplant, whatever it is, while adding a few points to its fleet mileage average. 2009 Audi S4
With Audi's new A4 generation having debuted in Frankfurt last week, Audiphiles' thoughts are now with the more sporting versions of Ingolstadt's bread-and-butter model. Motor Authority offers a spate of digitals that show what looks to be the coming Audi S4, due later this year. Revised bumpers, trunklid spoiler and qiad exhausts give away the goods on the variant, which like its predecessor will be powered by Audi's sublime 4.2-liter FSI V8. It'll also come with Audi's new understeer-reducing differential system that distributes engine torque in continuously variable proportions between the rear wheels. But don't get too keyed up; word is the next super-sport RS4 won't arrive until '09. [Motor Authority]

Dubspeed Tests the Audi S6 and S8
Our boy Zerin at Dubspeed sent his man Wes Grueninger off to French Canada to flog the V10-powered angry brothers of the A6 and A8, and came back...well, we're not entirely sure. He had nits and picks about both models, but as if seemed like he liked them and was suitably impressed with the precision of most everything but the brake modulation. Plus, there's an entertaining bit about airborne pomme frittes and an irate Quebecois woman, and we're always suckers for that kind of nonsense. More »

Audi S8 Launch Nears
Carscoop is running two new, unattributed photos of Audi's new S8 — set to launch this week at the Tokyo motor show. Powered by a detuned version of the Lamborghini Gallardo's V10 engine that produces 450hp — and marking a reported a zero-to-62 mph time of 5.2 seconds — the newest of Audi's Ss will be an appetizer to the still-unconfirmed RS8's 600hp main course.
