    Which would actually be mega cool. Maybe instead of "To Serve and Protect" it could be "Born to Run."

    I'm sure there's something much more clever, my brefass scotch hasn't kicked in yet.

    And the PPI GTR Razor is only how much more than a ZR1?


    The trick is, I think this is prettier. And it gives the R8 a bit of masculinity, the normal R8 is a bit too understated. This is loud and outrageous and says LOOKITMEIMMASUPERCAR.


    Oh wait. If you want something belligerent and outrageous, you buy a Lamborghini. Is this cheaper than a Gallardo?

    @Plecostomus will never win COTD... but has a: you think an r8 is pretty? granted the c6 is not the best looker in the world, but really? you probably like the mantide too.

    Pfft. Yeah, it has a sophisticated interior, and stunning exterior, but it is like the Subaru SVX of sports cars. I mean, they almost got it right, but it takes serious work to get it to perform.


    If it wasn't for the ZR-1, I would want one of these.


    I was never a Corvette fan, but the new generation is no joke. This is a modded Audi R8 and it can just compete.


    The Europeans and Japanese need to watch their step.


    China take note.


    Oh, I forgot, they already are, and word for word at that.

    Okay, you add some mods to an R8 and it's very fast and I want one. Got it.


    Does it not astonish that this takes exactly as long to 60 miles per hour as a Z06? That the R8 5.2 V10 is only one tenth of a second faster to 60 than a base model manual Corvette?! Damn.

    @A pistonforging player: The ZR1 is pretty ridiculously powerful for what you're spending. And frankly, I'm kind of surprised the tuners didn't go farther with engine performance. Certainly, once you've gone into forced induction territory, going farther isn't a big deal.


    But I think the point here is that it's NOT a Corvette, and it'd appeal to someone who wants a supercar, but not the supercar du jour.

    @elwood: But let us not even mention the ZR1. The 4.2 R8's 0-60 time is 4.7 seconds. The standard Corvette's 0-60 time is 4.0 seconds, or 4.3 with an automatic. That's over half a second less, for less than half the price.

    Ok, I'll be the counterpoint...


    I think they missed the point in putting the Lambo V10 in there. Lambo already makes a V10 supercar.


    Audi's tagline is "Truth in Engineering", not "Truth in we dropped our cousin's bigger motor in".


    If they needed to make an Uber-R8, they should've done the TDI, which is more in keeping with Audi's identity, IMO.
