    Are the engine blocks still based of the Taurus' V6?

    A little perturbed by the yard of front+rear overhang. I realize they have to keep the turning circle closed, but then why not employ 4-wheel steering like the new 7-series?

    I love Aston Martins, but this car seems silly to me. Why 4 doors when you don't really have the advantage of 4 proper seats? But then, most Astons I see around never have more than 1, sometimes 2, persons in it... so the backdoors probably serve for shopping bags and little dogs. I'' take the Panamera over this anytime.

    For the middle-aged, upwardly mobile, Anglophile who realizes the impracticality of trying to get a baby in the back seat of his Mustang Coupe.

    Yes, I'm talking about the future me. As critical I am of Aston Martin keeping this under the Aston Martin brand instead of putting it under the Lagonda brand, I still would consider it.

    Aston seriously needs a design refresh. They haven't made anything fresh in about 5 years, IMHO. They all look the sane, just like the 911/Panamera you so revile they (Aston Martin) NEVER CHANGE their designs.

    @Landau_Calrissian loves our President Camacho.: I see that you don't know your Astons. This current design language is only 6 years old, spanning only 4 cars, with one being a direct variant of the other.

    With the hideous One-77 and the Lagonda concept, I'm pretty sure the Rapide is the last itineration of this design.

    @Landau_Calrissian loves our President Camacho.: I'm with you on this one. I can see that AM has been changing and evolving slowly, but it still all has the same feel and family affiliations, much like the 911. It always struck me as odd that car aficionados could laud AM for their classic timeless design and in the next breath revile Porsche for not hiring designers when the old ones die off.

    @Landau_Calrissian loves our President Camacho.: Difference: Aston's designs are absolutely sexy, and the DB9 is a much slicker execution than the DB7 before it was. The 911 still looks like a Beetle upon which a remarkably fat person sat.

    I said they have looked the same for 5 years. You said their "design language" (time to toss this insipid term also BTW) has been the same for 6. So we agree apparently.

    I thought it was cool when it was Bond's car circa whenever, needs a refresh as bad as the F-150 now.

    @Landau_Calrissian loves our President Camacho.:

    The F-150 got a refresh this year, and as for Aston Martin, why mess with beauty? Would you honestly go tell Eva Mendes to get a nose job just because she has had the same nose all her life? No. Porsche design may be iconic, but it is by no means elegant or beautiful, and it simply did not translate well onto anything other than the 911/Boxster/Cayman.

    So why complain about Aston Martins, viewed by many as the beautiful cars in production today, and not nail Porsche for not only needing a new design language after forty years, but failing miserably in applying that design language to the rest of their lineup?

    @Landau_Calrissian loves our President Camacho.: I don't get your point. A car's model cycle is usually 5 to 10 years, with expensive cars having longer cycles. Why can't cars being built during that time look similar. Doesn't that make sense?

    ...we're assuming leg room in the back is less than stellar, which makes us wonder what the point of the whole thing is.There is absolutely no point. It's an Aston Martin. It is beautiful, fast and British. You don't need a point when your car is Bond's car of choice. Of course, you could buy a DB9, but those are just too plebeian. The DBS? You must be joking. Way too many vents and such. Alacantra? No Thanks. This car is for the more mature driver. The Johnnie Walker Blue Label drinker.
