They should change their name to American Exploitation Vehicles.

They charge more for a jeep that is missing a ton of parts?

    I WANT!!!

My dad's first car was a '48 Willys pickup truck. Go-Devil four, 4.88:1 axles, primer gray paint, topped with a big steaming dollop of awesomeness. If I won the lottery tomorrow, he and I would be driving around in a Hemi-powered flat-gray Scrambler this father's day.

I have a feeling that, unlike Dad's Willys, the 330-horsepower J8 won't run out of steam (and revs) at around 65 miles an hour.

Funny, the outrage expressed here is that this was not being produced, then that it's too expensive. But with the X6M the outcry is that it's too expesive, and that it's BEING produced. Ironic and weird double standard.

@X5 Son of a Beach: Jeep J8 - getting back to the roots of the brand, appealing to its once and forever market core.

BMW X6M - moving further away from what made the brand the "Ultimate Driving Machine" and pushing it further into the douche bag/trophy wife only category.

Hope that cleared things up for you.

    1) And I saw the forth Jeep Wranglerman, breaking forth in all our fury.
    2) And said Wranglerman went about destroying one-third of all Geo Metros, and econbox trash,
    3) And one third of the blind, the halt,
    4) And one third of the streams, valleys, and beaver dams.
    5) And I cried, how long, great Chrysler man, shall the Warnglerman crush all that stands in it's way.
    6) For the I-beam bumpers never showed signs of stopping.
    7) And the great Chrysler man cried out. It Shall never stop, for it has a lifetime powertrain warranty,
    8) And after all of the diesel runs out, it will run on the blood of kittens.
    9) And I looked, and lo, Wranglerman's name was Chuck Norris.

@Lotucris: The actual Wrangler J8 from Chrysler is stamped out in Toledo, shipped overseas and assembled in Egypt, then sold to local governments, military's, etc.

The J8 is an extreme downgrade over the HUMMV only if you must have outrageous fuel consumption, a large turning radius, wide footprint incapable of going down narrow alleys, complicated service requirements, a low top speed, crash safety designs from the 70's, extremely high purchase and parts costs, and the ability to drop it from a helicopter.

Not all military vehicles have to be capable of being retrofitted with armor plating.
