It's a shame that this car won't survive (although even in California, it's probably not rust-free), but with any luck its parts will live on. I always thought it would be cool to put a GTV6 drivetrain in some sort of lame little hatchback to make a LeMons car. You've got that lovely DeDion rear end and five-speed transaxle, and that sweet-sounding V6, so really, why wouldn't you do it? Now that Fiat owns Chrysler, a GTV6-powered Plymouth Horizon might be cool-- yank the Mopar guts out, plop that rear end in there, bolt the motor directly to the transaxle, and you've got yourself a mid-engined, five-door, Hillman-Avenger-based Index of Effluency winner! What could possibly go wrong?
A lesson for us all, Alfa to Omega, the circle is complete.
I can be jaundicedly philosophical about this because I was never a fan of these -- I know they are fine wheels but I don't get teary-eyed the same way I would over, say, well, almost anything else. Never liked that hatch/fast back in anything.
May your parts live on, Dude.
Hey You forgot the Yugo!!!! First one ever to make it on the track in Lemons history. (That I know of)....Yeah I know she only did ten laps. And we stuck the transponder from the Corrado in her. Which was a bad mistake. Since the Corrado seems to be cursed. Oh well. Look for the Yugo to re-emerge at the next Reno race. Rumour has it that it will be a little screamer. But we'll have to see about that. ZZ Uber Das Driver
