Ok, so what isn't explained in this video, is how they figured out there were cars, and why they were searching for cars in the river.

@valthun: I forgot what the details were exactly, but they had been searching for something else last year and found all these cars. It's been on their to-do list.

More mysterious are the hundreds of car tires found while cleaning the canals of the city without any cars; Venice (Italy).

Actually, tourists thought it was mysterious, Venetians know the tires where used on the boats to absorb the shocks while "parking".

When they said about the cars being from the 70s. The car being pulled looked very much like a Daytona from the 80s

@fodder650: I'm pretty sure it was a Fox-body Capri. Definitely from the '80s though.

Detroit couldn't afford a proper time capsule.. They just dumped stuff in the river to fish out 50 years in the future.

Results of a failed trebuchet attack initiated by Canada. That's my guess. They'd probably fart in our general direction, but nobody would smell it over Detroit. Happy Canada Day, everyone.

Hey, could you guys avoid embedding autoplaying videos? I'd much rather click on something to start it, or even follow a link to another page.

@Leeeeena, a Jalopchick: I mentioned it above already, but if you use Firefox, go get the Flashblock plug-in. It'll disable flash until you click on it. Very handy.

I think Strand does something similar for Safari.

@Ben Wojdyla: Nah, I wish. I went to Chrome because it's incredibly fast and has some neat features, but it won't quite be complete until they give me my flashblock and adblock addons like Firefox. Incognito browsing makes it all worth it, though.
