Too bad most of your thoughts relate to homo-erotic fantasies. You've been shamefully robbed of the ability to appreacite the rumble of an American V8. So sad.

@Brady Butterfield: I agree, pushrods have their own unique sound, and while subject to personal taste, i think its a wonderful sound as well. I have a 2 litre I4 in my Volvo 122 that breathes through a true dual exhaust (two 2-1 header collectors) and it sounds bad ass.

I read today that Subaru posted modest sales gains for 2008 also. Seems cars (read: not trucks or SUVs) which are fun to drive, and maintain good grip to the road (read: AWD) actually inspire people to pull out their wallets. Now, if only Audi drivers would realize that they're paying too much for an inferior (read: unreliable) product they'd go Subie too!

@Deartháir: a Cruder, Fart-Joke Version of graverobber: In fact, I think your logic is exactly backwards. It's the poor Audi junkies and their superiority complex which won't allow them to buy a common Subaru.

@Sportwagons have hustle AND bustle: No, I've driven both, many, many times. The only commonality between them is the AWD.

Sorry, Subarus simply aren't a competitor for an Audi. I don't have one of either, but it's like trying to tell me that a Kia is a logical competitor for a Jaguar. Or even a Skoda and a Lexus. I'd be telling you you're being silly then too. They're not competitors, even if they are more reliable.

Audis are beautiful cars, with absolutely amazing interiors and a feeling of quality that nobody else has. I climb into an Audi, and think, "WOW, that's nice.". I close the door, and it feels like the door to a bank vault closing with a quiet "Schnick" noise.

I get into a Subaru, and I think, "Yup, that's an economy car. Nice it's got AWD though." Compared to an Audi, the door closes like it's made of cardboard and a cafeteria tray.

"Unreliable" is also a gross oversimplification. Do a bit more research on the web. Luxury cars, as a whole, tend to get worse ratings than economy cars, particularly when tracking the number of problems per car. On an Audi, there are about 5x the number of things that CAN go wrong as on a Subaru or Kia. And come on, even the least reliable car is a dozen times better than the best cars of 20 years ago. It's almost a moot point nowadays. You've also seen companies like Lexus go from first place to 7th place, to third, to twelfth, back to first. The difference is not the car, but in how the test is conducted.

Your statement of an "inferior" product is so flat-out wrong as to be laughable, so I can only continue to assume that it's a joke. Audi has some of the best engines on the market, the best interiors on the market, and some damn sexy cars, in a time when most luxury cars are just getting bloatier and uglier.

If you were seriously shopping between Subaru and Audi -- and how would you? They're not competitors -- I can only assume price didn't factor in. If money's no object, the Audi wins every time. If money IS a major factor, what are you doing shopping for an Audi in the first place?

I'm sorry, your point is one that really irks me.Nobdy compares a Subaru and an Audi except SubieSport magazine, and Subaru fanatics. It's like comparing a Honda Civic and a BMW 5-series, and concluding the Honda is the better car because it's cheaper. Of course it's cheaper, it's a Civic! Why not compare your Subaru to a Lamborghini as well? They've got All-wheel-drive.

It's a ridiculous argument, and I'm tired of people trolling through every post about an Audi to make a statement like that over and over. The behaviour of their owners is the single reason for my growing dislike for Subarus.
