@SantaRita: I didn't say you didn't - and I've been busy - so not reading so closely, nor all the comments.
I try to promote all my pals when I come across their comments - including yours - but I haven't been having so much luck lately picking up all those hitch hikers with their thumbs out - something about the software, or something.
The I-4 in Griffin/Aero dress makes a good deal more hp. There's a lag penalty, but it makes for a fun ride.
Split windshield and suicide doors, sign me up! Why is there only half a rear bumper in the first picture and a complete one in the last picture?
I think it's wonderful, but it really shouldn't be an automatic. That, of course, should go without saying!
A 35hp Kohler is a step up from the original two-stroke, but you gotta admit the sound of the stocker is like nothing else. Just tooling down the road sounds like the Hounds o' Hell out for a spin.
A 92 is a flyweight car, if it weighs more than a ton he's topped up the oil tank. That doesn't give the V6 much to do. Dad's 96 would hit 40mpg due to the modest weight and excellent aero characteristics - I'd be fascinated to know how well this does economy-wise.
The Koenigseggsegeegeggg deal never felt real because it depended on three billion Swedish Kronor appearing from the tooth fairy troll. Koenigseahhtohellwithit was finally able to get $600 million of financing approved by the European Investment Bank, but the details of the financing didn't mesh with running a car company. Even if GM sells you Saab for 25 öre, you need hundreds of millions of dollars in cash and credit lines to operate a car company and its factories.
The latest rumor seems to be "The Swedish newspaper Dagens Industri said today, citing unidentified informed sources that BAIC [Beijing Automotive Industry Holding] and Merbanco [a group of investors from Wyoming?] may make a joint bid for Saab." BAIC was going to invest in Koen..g after the Saab acquisition.
@Scandinavian Flick: Funny, internally we were wondering if Jalopnik could afford to buy Saab. We're pretty sure we could get a fat loan from Sweden, lop off a chunk of the dealers and lay plans for a new Sonnett based on the Toyotaburu.
@Ben Wojdyla: I like where your head's at, Ben. While you're at it, Saab will need a new logo. I humbly suggest a "throwback" approach, as seen on this photo of Saab rallying legend Eric Carlsson.
This is a great looking car. As a current Saab owner, I look forward to the new direction things are taking with Koenigborkborkborksegg's control.
I see 'night panel' is there, I wonder if they're still using the awesome Trionic engine management system?
The engineerd Press Release Summarizer (ePRS patent on file) CRAY-like supercomputer got it's feelings hurt by the engineerd Fair Market Value (eFMV patent pending) WOPR-like computer. Some drama ensued, and the ePRS is back online. Here's what it had to say:
Saab is a company conceived by dragons, born from jets, and then it entered the system and was a foster child of GM and now is, hopefully, being adopted by Koenigsegg. The adoption process is still continuing, but the influences of "the system" and it's new-found Swedish family are showing on the all-new 2010 9-5.
First, signalling it's past, it is not quirky. In fact, while maintaining a European flair, it is pretty average looking. No matter how hard it may be trying, the scars of an abusive foster family are still there.
Second, in a nod to its new family a series of engines are available, including some with decent power figures:
*2.0L turbo I4 diesel engine making 160 hp.
*2.0L turbo I4 gas engine making 220 hp.
*2.8L turbo V6 gas engine making 300 hp.
*1.6L turbo I4 gas engine making 180 hp.
*2.0L BioPower E85 engine.
In a nod to it's birth parents, all engines have turbines. Other aircraft-inspired appointments include a HUD, altimeter, and a host of electronic nannies and screens -- just like a real jet...sort of.

Those cars have pretty durable drivetrains, so finding donors for the swap shouldn't be too tough.
C'mon all you Jalops - swap an engine, get a free beer!

HEY! I totally said that but my posts aren't showing/approved often.
it's an l81 GM V6 turbo good for 200HP and 220LBft.
the 2.3L Turbo 4-cyl makes 5 more hp and 40more lb-ft with 30% better fuel economy.

But I see these glyphs, and I click on them, and sometimes something happens. I particularly like it when I do that and I get extra kibble.

Good luck Saab, that is a cool looking car that has a very clean, simple, but sleek design, like an iPod.
