New Porsche mod house, J.N. Hephaiss, aimed high with their first tuner. The company sent Porsche's new GT3 (996) into the lab, and came up with an extreme version that has more tail than Moby Dick. An adjustable exhaust allows the driver to hush the flat six in public, while letting it roar on track day. Its front bumper assembly has a lowered lip section that improves downforce, damping the standard GT3's forward lightness under hard acceleration, and wider intakes that offer greater airflow. Of course, the white elephant in the room is that rear wing, which comes in FRP or carbon fiber, and has a main flap and sub flap that can be adjusted for specific circuits. They didn't mess with the mechanicals, but they say the exterior details make for a car that's sharper on the road, and exceeds the stock GT3 in aerodynamics and cooling. Now, about that tail... <![CDATA[Hoo Ha! Porsche 996 GT2 Slays the Nurburgring]]>

Sure, watching driver-POV videos of N rburgring burns can be tedious as waiting for your girlfriend to finish her turn at GT4. But this one, of a Porsche 996 GT2 devouring the Green Hell in just over seven minutes, has that stomach-dropping effect that's missing from most run-of-the-mill lappage vids. Take Dramamine as needed.

<![CDATA[Electric, Aye! Ellica Beats Porsche]]>

Think a Porsche 911 (996) Turbo could outgun the Eliica (short for Electric Lithium-Ion battery car) — an eight-wheeled electric supercar from Japan? Place your bets, kids. As this clip from Japanese TV shows, the Eliica can shoot to 100 mph in seven seconds, where the Porsche needs 9.2 to break triple digits. With the Eliica, peak torque is virtually instantaneous — and likewise the Porsche is no match for the Eliica's kilowattage equivalent of 800hp. The Eliica's builders say the e-speedster can theoretically hit 250 mph. Can a shootout with a Koenigsegg be far behind?.

<![CDATA[Hamann Creates Porsche Update Kit]]>

Porsche 996 owners won't have to settle for their cars' fish eyes and bubble butts any more. German tuning shop Hamann created an appearance kit that makes over last-generation 911s to look like the back-to-hotness 997s. Of course, purists would stick a chopstick in their eye over performing a poseur update, but in this case, we're willing to bet exceptions will be made.
