You mean the exception to the Defender stereotype? I think this stereotype only exists in places (like the US) where the Defender is VERY hard to find--it hasn't been sold here in something like 20 years, except for imported kits. VERY expensive.

"The Range Rover Sport, with its new, evolved V8 Supercharged engine, is commonly spotted at night in urban landscapes with its xenon headlights prowling on helpless, smaller species such as the Toyota Prius and the Honda Civic. The Range Rover shows no mercy at all when it comes to its prey and has no regard for onlookers...
Here, we can see this fine example of a predator sneaking up s-l-o-w-l-y behind a smart car, clearly angered by its attitude. Now watch! As it goes straight for the neck of its prey and sink its teeth violently into the poor, helpless animal..."

The sad part is that the Defender meets your RR stereotype where I live. It's the "work 60 hours a week at the law firm and need something unique to take the kids to the Zoo on the weekend"
The RR is all silver-haired senior partners.

The 2010 Range Rover Sport with LR-V8 5.0 liter Supercharged making 510 hp and 461 torques.
Really, does anything more need to be said? Sure, there's another more budget-friendly version. Sure, they tout their greenness with reduced friction internals. Sure, there's some interior appointments that make it nicer than my house.
But really, they could stop at 5.0L Supercharged making 510 hp and 461 torques and people would not notice.

I hope they sell a million of them.
