The Italian Cars have been quite inspirational at LeMons. The New England race had a contingent of Alfas that proved quite reliable, and finished in the top 10.
On the other hand, having a very simple engine in my car proved to be the winning hand.
@günter macbeetle, codename: chrystlubitshi: Meanwhle, I'm wondering how you diagnose a hose failure at a track, where it's loud, you have only the tools you brought, and no hoist. Do you just listen around with a stethoscope and try to hear the sound of escaping.. er.. vacuum? air?
And how do you even know to look for a hose, instead of, say, a failure of ze German electrics?
@blueplate: Hose testing on the is best done with WD40 or starter fluid or proper flammable brake cleaner, which on the intake side will make the engine rev up, or soap and water to look for bubbling or sucking down spots.
@blueplate: no, all the extra sound of LeMons helps... you only hear the sounds of SUCK** go by once a lap (**apply to which-ever country/type car you don't like), which on the full course seems to give you a couple of minutes...

@Paul Y. don't drive too fast.: You seem to be right about the Z's... every LeMons race I've seen one mentioned in is usually followed by some tale of mechanical or electrical woes.
My guess it's due to the same reason you don't see too many of the older ones on the streets anymore: likely they were too mercilessly overhooned in their useful lifespans to have much wherewithal left for a resurrection.
Also, once you got into the 280's, the electrical complexity grew by leaps & bounds, which is never a good thing to have to find & fix on an older car.
I think its one of those things where the Honda driver never thought the B driver would come over that far and make contact. Yeah, I guess the Honda driver could have slammed on the brakes but the B driver has a responsibility to the other cars around him.
Since there was no one under the B, there was no reason to swing way out to make the left hander. The Honda driver has as much right to the track and a racing line as anyone else.
The footage from this posting, as well as the MGB that went flying off into the grass shows that the speeds have increased at this venue. It also looks like the "Racecar" (RX-7, E30, Miata, Honda) is dominating over the "LeMons" cars.
So many questions! Where's Faster Farms? How's Marvin the Martian? MetroGnome and its nemesis? The Mystery Wagon? Braff said the MGBee rolled--so I guess the Schumie Taxi "Why Am I Upside Down?" crown will pass to them...
You guys need a taller SunShade. Let me know if you somehow need a spare M30. It's yours for $250, but you've got to take the rest of the car with it...
This one seems sorta politically incorrect or somethin. I can wear my neon green Driveshaft Through the Skull T-shirt anywhere really. School, hockey games, the garage when I'm working on the Tempo.
But I think I could offend people by showing up in a Shabbat Shalom M F R shirt.
@Ford Tempo Fanatic: On the other hand, if it was a Shabbat Shalom MotherFcukeR shirt, I have no doubt it would be readily available at a horrifying shopping mall near you.
@Ford Tempo Fanatic: how, my tempo-enthusiastic friend, how you not gotten a jalopnik brand heart-clicky before now?(my character map isn't working right now, 'tm' shows up as 'ä'... so i want to let mr. wert know that i'm trying not to infringe upon trade-mark issues... i just can't use the symbol right now, sorry.... i blame nibbles)

....not to mention that pinky finger-sized hose that failed and caused the team so many problems...

...on the other hand, the Benz is not a surprise. It's a GT, not a sports car, and is as reliable as any post-W124 Benz is ever going to be.

Rule #1 in racing - Hold Your Line.
Well, if it's not #1, it should be up there.

And where did our intrepid cameraman learn to drive? NASCAR?
I'll acknowledge shared fault, but he should have backed down.

Either way, LeMons needs more 'Merican muscle that's as fast as those Euroboxes and those Japanese motorbikes.
