I liked the 2015 Audi S3 enough to recommend it anyone looking for a quick, stylish, competent small sport sedan, but a lot of you were turned off by the fact that it only comes with Audi's S Tronic dual clutch transmission instead of a true manual. Now we know Audi might just change their mind.
We knew the Audi A3 Clubsport Quattro concept has 525 horsepower worth of five-cylinder awesomeness. What we didn't know until today is that most of the trunk lid is a giant freaking air brake. Look at that thing go!
With just shy of 300 horsepower and all-wheel drive, the 2015 Audi S3 and 2014 Volkswagen Golf R are two new performance cars we're quite excited about. But now we have reason to believe these cars might be the latest in a long line of VWs and Audis that get a bit neutered when they come to the U.S.
The 2015 Audi S3 is a landmark car for us Americans. It's our first-ever S3, and since it's a sedan now like its baby brother the A3, we might actually buy it. But how much will it hurt our wallets if we do? Apparently, $41,100. Not bad!
Car Wars is where we pit some of today's hottest cars against each other and then, in a commenting fight to the death, decide which one we'd buy. Today we have two entry-level hotted up German sedans for about the same price.
Audi used to make a small sedan. That small sedan was called the A4. Yes, Audi still makes the A4, but it has now ballooned in size. Even though the 2015 S3 sedan is basically the same size as that original A4, it has grown up in every conceivable way. Especially under the hood.
On Friday we got the first press shot of the 2015 Audi A3 Cabriolet. Due to a funky watermark we weren't sure it was the real deal, but now we know it is. That's a good thing, because this is an attractive 'vert, and the S3 version packs a ton of power and Quattro all-wheel drive.
It's grown in size from the previous A3, but it's now very distinguishable from a Golf. This is the new S3.
