Back in the 70's, Ford needed a small truck, so they rebadged some Mazdas, and called them Couriers.

About 10 years later, they decided they had learnt all they needed to know from the folks in Hiroshima, and built their own truck for North America, the Ranger.

Mazda kept on building their own truck, and selling it around the world. Ford, knowing that "The Rest of the World" is not like North America, kept on rebadging those Mazdas to sell in furrin markets.

10 years on, and 20 years after the first Mazda trucks came over, Mazda decided that North Americans were not "The Rest of the World" and decided to stop importing Mazda trucks into North America. Instead, they rebadged Rangers. The Rest of the World still got Mazdas, even if some of them were badged as Fords.

Here we are, another 15 years down the road, and Ford, needing a small truck, has turned back to Mazda, so they can rebadge their trucks, and sell them as Rangers in North America.

I have no point to this story, it just makes me chuckle.
