Cadillac XTS Reportedly To Replace STS, DTS |

Jesus, GM is so fucking cheap and stupid it gives me a headache. A FWD/AWD big-ass car that'll probably only come with a V6 now? Isn't that Buick's job?
They'd be better off if they just didn't bother replacing the two cars.

Let's review:
It's true you used numbers once--the Cadillac Sixty springs to mind--and it was a disaster. You were all over the place with it--low end, high end, what the hell is a Sixty? Eventually it amounted to about 3 trim bits and not much else. And you made it worse when you had a Standard 60 and an "Imperial" 60. And did you have a special edition of it in 1960? No, you did not. But you floundered ahead, ending up with a Fleetwood Sixty eventually. No, wait, make that a "Fleetwood Sixty Special Brougham."
You killed it off in 70? 71? thereabouts, but then you snuck it back in during the late 80s and by then nobody, not even you, knew whether it was supposed to be upscale, downscale, and how it related to a Fleetwood anymore--a seat with 22 position controls? Really?
And why 60? Well, why not, you asked. Because you also ran a 62 series as well that bloated up to a "6200" in the 50s, turned into the Calais in the 1960s and then went extinct.
And who cares about CTS and STS, SRX, LBJ, IRT? Forget the random initials. Forget the doofus names like Catera and Allante and yes, even the Espadrille or whatever.
You're Caddy. Remember? Your bread and butter and your cake are:
Eldorado
Fleetwood
De Ville
Nobody cares about the details. It's a Cadillac, dammit. That's all you need to know.

You know what, that's it. As any on this site can attest to, I have been ardent supporter of General Motors in these lousy times, despite the fact that I drive a GM POS of a Saturn. But this...this is just too much.
It's so bad that I just can't even come up with cognitive processing capacity to come up with a good, angry rant.
I give up.

The Epsilon architecture is actually SMALLER than the CTS that this is supposed to be a step up from, and from what I can recall, doesn't have the capability to be scaled up to make a large car like this. The Delta II platform from the new CTS does have the ability to be scaled up, as does the Zeta platform, and the long-rumoured Zeta II said to be in development.

I say have at it. I don't find X to the Z that intimidating.

Now we can truly say that Malaise II has begun.
On the bright side, if it is Malaise II, expect the automakers to be more efficient this time at giving us cars designed for their eventual purpose of mob/drug trafficking: the Cadillac XTC, the Lincoln LSD, and the Chrysler Cocaine.

Hopefully there is a -V version.. which would mean that there would be LSA engines in the camaro plant.. which perhaps certain plant workers could "accidently" swap into a camaro.

Who do you think we are, ze Germans?

I mean.. the STS-V has a 470hp supercharged 4.4L Northstar (deathstar) V8 in it.
Just most people don't know about it..
Someday.. they will make killer lemons cars.
