2011 Ford Mustang GT? |

The Stang in all its various flavors sell more thanany other Ford car there is.
why wouldnt they ride it?
and btw.. us Ford guys asked for those flavors..
and they listened.
Not everyone can afford a Shelby GT500 let alone a KR.
we like to be able to have a Mustang in our price range that fits us.
Now if these cars were sitting and rotting on dealer lots like F150s and other trucks.. you might have a point.. but down here at least you cannot even get your hands on a GT in choice colors most of the time.
they are all sold out.. and dont even think about getting a Gt500 or even a Shelby GT without being on a waiting list or paying over sticker.
So nothing wrong at all with various flavors of Mustangs.
and BTW the Foxes ate the hell out of DIEROCS during the 80s.
specially 5.0 LX notchbacks.
too many Chevy/Pontiac retards around here to listen to anything anyway.

A) You are correct, if the consumer ask for them and subsequently buy them, there is nothing wrong with them.
B) F-150s have once more surpassed Civics as the best-selling new vehicle in America.
C) Only if those Foxes were modified and the IROCs were stock.
D) Yep, that's right, I'm a GM guy that likes my Camaros and Firebirds. Your point?

Who the hell is going to buy a Rick Ross edition Mustang?

It's obviously a Bruce Springsteen Special Edition Mustang.

Then we would really see some interesting pony car wars.

I agree with that. If they could get the V6 Mustang up to around the same level as the SN95 GTs, which put out 265 hp, they would be in good shape.
@Blueovalkid formerly known as Clashtastic now with MOAR English:
Good to hear. Hopefully the will be smart about it, and maintain the availability of the GT suspension in the V6, something that GM needs to do with the Camaro.

Interestingly, Ford has made no more than five versions of the car since 2005: Base, Base WIP edition, GT, Shelby GT, Bullit, and GT500.
Granted, we probably could have done without the WIP edition, but otherwise, the Base and the GT are standard fare, and we pretty much asked for the Bullit, Shelby GT and GT500, and we got them.
The rest of what I assume you are referring to are all Roush, Saleen, Cervini, and crackerjack box full of other aftermarket tuner versions.
All told, while six is a lot, for the most part, Ford simply responded to what the customers asked them for, and profited from it. I'm cool with that.
Like you, though, I am also tired of all the aftermarket tuner "editions" like AV8R, etc.

Besides, Who doesn't make multiple versions? Camaro: RS, SS, LT, Z28, IROC Z, Yenko...

Keeping upgrading a car that's based on performance makes the base versions toys.

The GTH is a Shelby GT, so that one doesn't count, and the Super Snake, while having the same Shelby name as the GT500, is on the aftermarket end of Shelby's business, and was not done in conjunction with Ford.

The Thunderbird was a luxury car.
The Falcon was offered with a max of the 302 Windsor.
I mean, if you were going to mention older Fords, you could have at least mentioned the Torino and Gran Torino.

The Ford Galaxie 500

The (albeit rare) Ford SC Thunderbird:

And a 302 Windsor in the Falcon was no slouch.
I dunno, I think those qualify as Muscle Cars.

It was a picture of 1957 For Thunderbird with one of the rare supercharged 312 engines.

Again, not a Ford factory-sanctioned piece, but rather another aftermarket special edition through Galpin dealers, so that one doesn't count against Ford either.

All the dollar segments are nicely contained within 3 cars: base, GT, GT500. Trying to come to Ford's defense for cars like the Bullit and Shelby GT is really futile...Ford needs to concentrate on making sporty cars other than the Mustang. It's like they're mining the hell out of one mountain when there are other peaks surrounding them.
