Oh, it just figures. Subaru mainstreams the looks on it's entire lineup, then goes and mucks up its one mildly attractive vehicle. Looks like an XC70/Venza/Sebring mashup. Yurk.

Also did they lose their turbos and how is the 2.5i going to reach 60mph?

We are not amused with the sub-300HP figures. Something about this sexy-ish wagon just seems, wrong. I can't see the locals trading in their '89 DL wagons for one of these fancy new examples of modern technology.

I'm not a big fan of imports, but Subaru is an exception. A big one.

That's better. I like that a hell of a lot better than the Legacy sedan, and a hell of a lot better than either the Forester or the Tribeca.

@pauljones: But not better than two (or three) previous Outback editions. I own two of those. Yet, I wouldn't give this one another look. The reason: way too big. Whoever enlarged it should be fired. Though, now I understand more of their reasons to label Outback a SUV vs. the car which it was and should be. Apparently my next car won't be a Subaru (Forester or Tribeca are also way too tall and clumsy while WRX bunch are too small).

Those wheels look appropriately sized to me. They've got to be at least 16", maybe even 17". Remember, this thing is supposed to maintain the image of light offroad duty. I say go with 15" wheels and high sidewall A/T tires, dammit!

Sure, this car experimented in college. Who didn't, but now it has all grown up.

The Indigo Girls CD's have hit the dustbin, as have the need to really stick to being a vegetarian. You are a grown woman now, Outback. You have a husband, two children, and a mortgage. You don't have to time to reflect back on a younger life when you got drunk on Zima flavored with watermelon Jolly Ranchers and made out with that kinda cute but a tad too butchy girl two floors down at the your dorm the sophmore year of your first go around before you settled on a degree.

Goodness no. You are an adult.

Which pretty much sums up Subaru and their exterior design department for the last ten years.

Confused, but sometimes remembering the glory years, and the taste of young, pale, NPR listening hemp bracelet wearing girl flesh as your Shuffle kicks over to "Closer to Fine"

There was a Subaru Outback the other night scrounging around the garbage. I have a Legacy around these parts to maintain, so I shot it. My neighbors, not being Impreza, called the cops. When I saw the po-po coming I ran into the Forester to hide. I'm glad that Forester is there. I used to live in Tribeca and it is hard to find a place to hide from the cops there, plus there are a lot of car WRX.
