    I'm torn on this now. I used to hate it passionately, now I appreciate it for its capabilities (or at least what they're projected to be) but still think it's ugly, and I'm worried that eventually I'll become sort of neutral with it and feel that I have to defend it to people who bash it. It's the Cayenne all over again.


    I really hate having the two fonts on the ass, though. That's not ever gonna change.

    I may be mistaken, but I think this car represents Porsche's biggest strategic mistake since that whole aligning with Hitler thing.

    @BЯдΖǐL-ЯЄРΘЯΤЄЯ - Fast not Furious:I think there is a need. I for example would never buy this Audi, although I like Audi, it might be powerful and all, but the car just doesn't do it for me... on the other hand, the Porsche does.

    At first I hated it, now I like it.


    I don't know what it is, the more money I make, the less taste and sophistication I am able to retain. At least I still have my manners.


    Please excuse me while I go and have my keyboard gold-plated. I know it seems crazy, but I want it to match the television remote controls.

    I have no doubt it will be the finest handling, most fun to drive 4-door sports car around, but I can't get past what they've done with the rear of the car. It's unforgivable coming from Porsche.

    @85_Grand_National: That's no J-Lo rear end. More of a Rosie-O.


    Making it look 911-ish (which I still don't think it really does) shouldn't be the point. The design should work together as a whole. This shouldn't be a stretched 911, because clearly that doesn't work. At least not for me.

    As much as it's not a sports car true to earlier Porsche heritage, it will be a big hit with tasteless rich people everywhere. As a 4 door sport sedan it works well. Purists will always hate it, wannabes will love it. At least it's not a soccer mom SUV.

    @oddboxalfa: A real purist knows that Porsche has made more than just the 911's and therefore can accept this car without a problem.

    I also don't understand why, for example, Nissan is allowed to make a sportscar with Porsche ambitions, but Porsche is not allowed to make a sedan.

    I think it's fine. Fairly handsome, even. I wonder how a Kamm tail would have looked on it? Also, is that a camera in the middle of the grille?


    It's also not the most beautiful Porsche ever, but vastly better than the Cayenne. Can't wait till these get loose in the wild and we can see how they really perform.

    y'know, the damn thing keeps growing on me, it definitely pulls off the "looks like a 911" theme better than the Cayenne. It also, oddly, seems to look better with people standing around it for scale than it does when it's the only thing in the picture...

    @Almostbanned [jezebel took away my star]: That's been done for twenty years. I think VW introduced it. Step on the accelerator and the engine starts right back up. If the car is older and has electrical reliability problems, then this could be an issue. On a new car with a modern engine it shouldn't be a concern.
