Exterior mods: a delicious mixture of very little research and development and small production costs that adds up to a whole lot of profit margin.
So many good mods for Mustangs out there in the realm of engines and suspensions, but sadly, they don't photograph well. (Alotta room for improvement=alotta ways to improve lolzers).
No lame graphics packages required.
I like the Mustang well-enough, but we've just seen so many tarted-up stangs over the years that I just can't take them seriously anymore.

when you read the description of each mod, do it in chris farley;s old lady reading the resteraunt reviews, the one with adam sandler being the old husband crying out to god to kill him.
People, aren't we missing the point here? Instead of saying, 'oh dear, another special edition Mustang, what a pity,' or 'look, another Mustang with custom paint and wheels, la de freakin' da;' shouldn't we be thinking that it's a good thing that it's a pony car getting the SEMA treatment (love it or hate it) and not an front-wheel drive econobox or a 2-ton hybrid SUV? #fordmustang
@British_Looks_British_Reliabil...: +1, maybe even +2. I can't say I care for them all, but I like what a few are trying for, and look forward to seeing them.
Plus, the Mustang originated from a concept of being easily personalized, either from the factory or the aftermarket. We might make fun of this, but it's better than choosing if you'd rather get your midsized sedan in grey or beige, and with option package A or B. #fordmustang
I will take #3, please. However, I would be pleased to have any of the others in my garage.....WITH THE
EXCEPTION of #8. I do not like the gold wheels and stuff. #fordmustang
@Ben Wojdyla: I'm thinking #6, too, though I don't care too much for the color. I think for a car with that much visual mass, you need a metallic color to better emphasize the curves and lines in the design. #fordmustang
@kona41:
I'm not sure where that came from, the article in the magazine says: "Options include... a 540-hp, 5.4 liter supercharged V8 that uses a six-speed manual transmission. The five-speed manual shifts accurately and smoothly. A five-speed automatic is optional."

See, even Consumer Reports appreciates a little something called soul. Sure they put other stuff like reliability and efficiency and quality a little more heavily than Countach-posters-on-walls Jalopnik types like to do, but it's good once in a while to see "sportiness" expressed scientifically and compared metrically.
And the Mustang is my fav as well, it's the best looking IMHO (most timeless), apparently best driving, and most Steve McQueen.
@Mobius: Yesterday, inbetween helping a friend replace a '91 Caddilac radiator and work, I had a black Countach end up behind me on the freeway after I got on. I slowed and tried to get him to at least let me listen to it sing, but no joy :( It sure was purdy, though!

Plain and simple for me. #fordmustang

@JSeis: Me too! Though I admit my car looks best from this angle cuz my little stocker 17" wheels result in wheelgapus maximus. #fordmustang

Screw the Mustang. This is what you need.

A 5 speed seems so un-imaginable that even CR can't fatham it?
