After watching that commercial, bzr's small heart grew three sizes that day. And then the true meaning of Christmas came through, and bzr found the strength of ten bzrs plus two.

I like a lot of things about Honda...but can't bring myself to really get excited about their cars.

Would I have preferred some classic video-game references? Definitely. A bit more FIT IS GO perhaps? Sure.

But the idea is sound, certainly. And face it - it's cool.

I rather liked it. It didn't change the fact that I don't want a hybrid...ever. But it made me think that Honda still has a little fun in it left. Fun + Honda's classic nerdyness makes for extreme amounts of win.

My 1975 Dart has parking assist and rain sensors too...

Parking assist = I stick my head out the window as I'm backing up to make sure I don't clip something with my Malaise bumpers that stick out 4" off the side of the car.

Rain sensors = I stick my hand out the window. If it comes back in wet, either it's raining or I'm in the car wash.

Seriously though...who needs some of these fancy gizmos on an economy car? Isn't that just more stuff that can break or malfunction?

@Cognitive_Friction: Short answer: Cars are all so damned reliable, they have to build bits into them that will fail WELL before the running gear gives up the ghost. Gotta keep the repair guys in business, and then you gotta annoy the consumer enough that they'll buy a new one.

This was a concept introduced by Lucas and perfected by VW.

How else will GM support the 74 different parts companies it owns unless it designs widgets that fail after 30,000 miles?

Yeah, but is that the Prius with, or without the small-block? If it's with, then I'm duly impressed.

Why do I have a feeling Stud Beefpile should be covering the upcoming Honda vs. Toyota hair-pulling slap-fight that's sure to arise.

I wonder if the fact that Prius drivers are non-turn-signal-using pricks*, thereby stretching their precious electrons, plays into this.

*cut off twice in the last week by Prius drivers drifting, intentionally, into my lane in front of me. At least with BMW drivers do it, they're often moving somewhat quickly and deliberately. When Prii do it, it's a 15 second, super-slo-mo ordeal.

    I seethe.

@beercheck: Hey man, just think of it as fifteen full seconds for you to lay on the horn at them. That's how I look at manoeuvres like that. But then, I genuinely enjoy the sound of my horn. It's got that nice, european two-tone you always hear in car-chase movies set in France or Italy.
