It's not the weight thing that bothers me. Yes, it's heavy, but at the same time, I understand why it is so heavy. Modern safety equipment, and IRS, and the fact that it is meant to be an everyman's car, which means that there is no room in the budget for a lot of fancy carbon fiber and aluminum. And even with that heft, it certainly is slow by any definition. Hell, even the V6 Camaro can hustle pretty well.
What gets me is paying an extra $25k over the price of a fully-loaded 2SS Camaro for an extra 136hp. 426hp is more than enough to cause trouble. And if you absolutely must have that extra 136hp, you can buy the parts and do it yourself for a hell of a lot cheaper. I mean, seriously. He bolted on a supercharger and remapped the ECU. Is that really $25,000 worth of labor?

Sorry, maybe I'm getting an internet error here... where's the proof of that? I'm still seeing a redneck's play thing. "As American as Super-sized Fries and Size 42 Jeans?" Well... yes... it's bloated and ugly, I just didn't expect there to be pride at that. I'm not seeing any evidence of "precision" here, just a bunch of tire smoke and some very impressive engine numbers, stuffed into an ugly body, made much better by a lowered stance.
Sorry. It's still not a winner.
If it makes you feel better, though, I still like it more than the Challenger.

Sure, nearly every car on the road is a bloated form of its ancenstors. Hell, I saw a new MINI parked next to a classic Mini the other day and was somewhat astonished at how huge the new one looked. However, you don't notice it so much when they aren't sitting next to each other.
The new Camaro and Challenger both look bloated even when in an empty parking lot or driving down the road alone. That's my problem with them.
The Mustang, too, is larger than it's 1960's granddaddy, but it doesn't look heavy. It still manages to keep a svelte figure (to steal a wording from Dearthair) while the Camaro and Challenger look like the hot girl in high school whose a fat pig at the reunion.

Regardless, it is impressive.
And I don't think the redneck jokes apply to the new Camaro, but I was wondering, will they be making an IROC version?
