    Maybe if Ferrari knew how to make fast cars without budgets equivalent to the US government's, they wouldn't be complaining.


    But hey, Guccis and Dolces aren't cheap, and it's not like the engineers are asking for that much.

    Any word from Whitmarsh about the way McLaren is going? This is really despicable. We need a racing series that functions as a technology show case, and apparently Slowsely and Chucklestone are determined to ensure that it isn't F1. Revival of CanAm anyone?!

    Even if Ferrari, Red Bull, Toyota, BMW and Renault all pull out of F1 for the year, Rubens Barrichello will still find a way to finish second.

    @global warming my ass: Well, Vanwall and BRM didn't need anything like £30m.


    5 guineas covered the cork helmets and string-backed gloves.


    Another 100 guineas bought the services of a ex-Spitfire engineer to build you a jolly decent car, and 10 guineas to tip the marshals.


    Don't think I've missed anything there.

    @Flathead Smith: Aside from engine displacement, FI restrictions, fuel mixture composition, cage design, aero restrictions...


    You clearly haven't done your research on racing series regulations... Without the rules the cars would go faster than humans would be able to control them/ maintain consciousness due to high G levels. That and safety for both spectators and drivers becomes exponentially higher as speeds increase. Imagine that nascar crash a few weeks ago if the car had been going 50% faster...

    @stoke: Ferrari is already in the ALMS (GT2), albeit not under the Scuderia's banner. Risi Competizione is a quasi-factory team.

    @Jalopnik is adversely affecting FLB's work: If it does happen, Ferrari should return to top tier, and build a successor to Ferrari 333 SP. Making yesterday's video come true.

    @Pessimipposaurus: Regrettably, I don't think that will happen (not like they did with the 333SP, which from what I read IMSA just rubber stamped it in the hopes of getting attention). Although, I'd love to see them in the P1 class.


    What the ACO should do is make closed tops Prototype 1 and open tops Prototype 2.

    The whole split budget idea is pretty stupid in general. Maybe in Ferrari and Reno pull out of F1, they will go to CART. That might be interesting to see.

    Sounds like a field-leveler for the teams that happen to also compete in the LeMons 24.
