2010 Ford Flex EcoBoost: It's Got The Power

The last car to do that to me was... Saab 9-3 SportCombi. I went to the auto show thinking it'll have the crushed ice-effect taillamps that the European versions had, but noooooo. For some lameass reason, they had to have the clear red reflectors. Out of blinding rage, I slammed the taillamp of the US spec 9-3 SportCombi, prompting a poor Saab booth professional to rush to the car asking if everything was okay. Then I gave a long rant about how the 9-3 doesn't have the awesome crushed ice taillamps, which must have confused the dear girl. Sigh... I think that was the same year a Mitsubishi sales manager told me to get bigger aftermarket turbos on an Evo since we don't get FQ-400s here.
Well. I was vindicated though, since the later 9-3s all get crushed ice taillamps anyway.

This is not intended to get you 4-cyl economy. This is intended as an efficient alternative for people who need a vehicle with V8 power. If you're just looking for economy, you wouldn't be looking at a Tahoe or a Sequoia, which is what this is designed to take on.
If economy is your only concern, look at an xB. Or an Escape Hybrid. You're in the wrong article for that.

What wit you have. Don't let your vendetta against people who log in through facebook skew your opinion of commenters. Some of us have legitimate opinions. My opinion is that I AM currently in the market for a family vehicle in the $25-35K price range and 18mpg mixed isn't enough to make me buy a Ford.

This is intended as a much more efficient option to a Tahoe. This is not intended as a roomier option to a Scion xB.
Simply put, you're not the target market for this particular car. Now, if you were in the market for a family vehicle that has enough power to tow your boat, or your camping trailer, but can also get decent mileage the rest of the time... well, then you're in the right place.

Between the twin-turbo and the AWD, is Ford trying to cram in as many things as possible that can go wrong?
And yes, as perhaps one of the only manual transmission 2008 Ford Escape owners in the United States, I clamor for the third pedal. Sigh.
All that aside, I love the Flex, and may buy one. How about a telescoping steering wheel though? That seems to be the major criticism in test drive reviews.

The advantage is, very minimal driveline drag increases, so negligible fuel economy changes. Basically, the same as you'd notice if you were, say, carrying a full-size spare in your trunk. The disadvantage is, it's really AWD in name only. Pretty much all it does is give you a little push if you're stuck, so you don't get the handling improvements of an Audi or Subaru.

Now put it in everything else you make. Including the new Taurus SHO. Hint hint.

by the way, this AWD Flex is just begging for steeper gears.

Really?
Explain. Please enlighten me. I mean really. Where is that sexy? Eastern Europe? A gulag somewhere in the east?
Killing me.

Why must all cars be pointy?
Embrace the rectangle, my friend.
