Ford Fiesta Sedan, Revealed |

Why do I mention it? Because I can't think of any other car with proportions like the Fiesta's. It seems that a car has to start as one sort of vehicle, and morph into another, to achieve this level of Down-syndrome-esque awkwardness.

Why assume we won't? I'm pretty sure we will get both.

With Ford, always curious about build quality and reliability.

Recent Ford launches are tops in quality (as good or better than toyonda).

For all you sedan-haters out there, you'll get the five-door my "now where do we put the dead mobster?" realizing friends.
These should sell like hotcakes, I mean when everybody is buying cars again. Until then, lets see some more of those girls.

She'd still say no, but I think she'd be more cool about it than the SEMA booth babes.

That is nothing short of awesome. I really miss Europe. :(

Am I just getting old, or wha- HEY! GET OFFA MY LAWN!!

Anything midsize or large looks fine in a sedan, though. Just IMHO.

I find it odd...you guys in the UK sell 60-75% of your cars in hatchback or wagon/estate configurations, while the US is well under 5% (though it's climbing). More a stab at people's silly image considerations than anything.

I think that long-held notion began with the genesis of the Pinto and the Gremlin; hatchback/wagon thingies that were so god-awful that they left a pretty damn bitter taste in our mouths.
But I agree that is a foolish notion; whatever happened to the awesomeness that were the old Buick Roadmaster Wagon, Chevrolet Nomad, and Ford Falcon Wagon? Does anybody remember the quirky coolness that was the Rambler Wagon?
I think that in time, now that are Americans are starting to get a taste of well-made hatches/wagons, we will come to love them once again.

Wasn't the Nova Saloon a Cadet?

We've had the smartcar for years now, but it was just introduced in the 'States, what, last year? Here it was welcomed enthusiastically and with open arms. Down in the 'States, it seems to have been welcomed with held noses and one-finger-and-thumb treatment. "Eww, what IS that thing?" And the Civic sells so well up here they introduced a Canada-only Acura version. Which is shit, but still, just sayin'.

Smart car? I even did a grad school operations management project on its sheer genius back in 2000 (it was new to Europe at the time). But they really have little value in the US, where most cities won't allow two cars to a parking spot, and the economy doesn't top much else for the size/price/performance tradeoffs. They make the same logical sense as the stereotypical mom and kid in a Suburban, but I'll defend the latter for it's versatility, at least.
Never did understand why the Acura Civic never made it down here.

I am, however, still waiting to see how the Cruze stacks up. I just hope I won't be waiting forever. Pointlessly.
11/18/08
They're both good looking small cars.
However, remember the Cruze is considerably bigger, as it's a C car and Cobalt sized. This Fiesta is a B car, and smaller than the Cruze.
They are both supposed to get similar milage and a similar launch time. (maybe then Americans will shut up about "fuel efficient" domestics)

The size issue is why I would wait to see the Cruze before I would buy this; if I can get a car that is bigger and gets similar fuel economy number, I wouldn't even mind paying more for it.
That, and I come from a family that has a strong history with GM.
I would be interested to see how well this compares with the like-sized Toyota Yaris, which I hate with a passion. Despite the massive progress that Yaris represented over the Echo, it was still no better than my Saturn.
