You idiots. VDC off is ment for getting unstuck from mud or ice. JUST like ESP Off in a Merc and a Chrysler is ment for getting out of the mud should you get stuck. It is designed to alow wheel spin to clean the tire tread to regain tragtion. A bunch of idiots used it for launching a broke their cars. Take some responsability in life READ YOUR MANUAL! Stop blaming the manufactures.
@Speeddm: Exactly! It was designed, and is included, for recovery purposes *only*. That's why you first have to place the vehicle in "R" mode to access it, dumbasses.
@elwood: Well, with the Corvette, you still have to shift it manually, and it's not like there's a computer determining how fast to drive all four wheels. This is basically Chevy helping with throttle modulation and that's it.
Doesn't suprise me. As I posted earlier, this is the same company that put a sticker on my 1994 Corvette: "For high speed (over 150mph) drving, inflate tires to 35psi."
GM expects some owners to actually use the Vettes to their full potential.
I dig everything about this car except the projector headlight covers. Looks sort of like the Vette wants to go play racquetball or something. Not that I have any better suggestions, because without the covers, it'd look like a TVR or something.
We have heard that there is some consternation among buyers of your GT-R near-supercar regarding launch control and the warranty. We would like to inform you that our new Corvette will be equipped with non-warranty-voiding launch control. We are telling you this so that you are not surprised when we start taking sales away from you.
Sincerely,
General Motors
PS: Our run around the Nurburgring was 7:26 in last year's model. We didn't use race tires. Suck it.
I can dig it, especially since you can get the damn thing in any color (finally) and the stripes are optional. Personally, I'll take mine in blue, sans top, 6 speed manual please.

This is how it should have looked... I dunno why they added the scoop at the last minute, definitely gave the car a cleaner look.

By that logic you are saying GM fully expects its Corvette owners to get stuck in a Blizzard or a Hurricane?
Watch the video. It states to optimize performance at the dragstrip.
Last I checked they don't put mud and snow in the burnout box....

But hey, maybe now the ZR1 pulls away a bit from a car costing $30k less on the Nurburgring time battle.
