I didn't like the right-angle design of the CTS when it first arrived on the scene, but they've softened it just enough to make it tolerable to my eyes...which prefer the lines of 1955-1973.
Now that they've popped the top on a tall-boy can-O-whupass, I like it.

I think Lutz just earned every penny GM ever paid him. Good for him. As an M car driver, I'm embarrassed that the Germans won't take the challenge, and while I didn't think the Jag had a shot, I was impressed with what seemed a new direction for the firm; a riskier, more performance oriented direction. You don't have to win every race, but being willing to show up for them gives your marque credibility as a performance car.
you know, I never had any feelings toward GM cars and trucks (i didn't like them or dislike them, except I did like the vette), but this makes me like kinda them now...or at least the caddy anyway.
I dunno why, but this is making me very happy. Maybe its Caddy's underdog status... but I'm rootin' for them.
I love the idea of getting a last gen CTS-V. Ray, see if GM will loan you one! Or show up in that ol' Fleetwood LeMon's racer that was for sale last week! #gmvsjalopnik
@DoogieFullHouser: How are they the underdog in the race of life? They were the first car to have what we consider the basic control setup?: They have been a desirable brand since inception (barring a few questionable examples.) They have built a quality car that can go almost as fast as a Corvette. I'd buy one if I could afford it. #gmvsjalopnik
Good for GM. This should prove to even the most skeptical, die-hard anti-GM people out there, that GM builds a superior car, right from the factory, and ready for anything!
This would never have happened 20 years ago. Again, good for GM.
I used this line already, but what the hell, I like it.....

If I thought I could get my Mercedes with a Chevy (and now a 175 shot of NOS and twin bottles) to NY in time I would so enter. Granted by the end of the race my brakes would be nothing more than burnt crisps (but who needs them, they only slow you down) and the rear tires would have shredded in spectacular fashion by the end of the race. I would do it for Jalopnik! #gmvsjalopnik
See, you guys are treating this as a race pitting live drivers in high-performance cars against one another. In fact, it is a world premiere, a demo for our new data-based service, exclusive to GM: OnStar-R.
OnStar-R extends the telecom/hardware symbiosis beyond mere monitoring. With OnStar-R, our worldwide network is truly your co-pilot and crew. You may have seen the first inklings of this capability the other day, when the news went out about OnStar's ability to shut down a stolen car by remote control. But OnStar-R doesn't only make your car go slow!
Are you going to stand for that? And sure, your Cadillac may well be faster than his BMW, but as an enthusiast you are well aware that it takes a practiced driver to get the best out of any car. And how long has it been since you've taken your Caddy out on a race track?
This is where OnStar-R comes in to play. Simply key the authorization code into the touch-screen computer console located in the middle of the steering wheel, and OnStar-R's crew of remote-control racing experts, aided by our powerful artificial intelligence software, instantly take complete control of your car. It's the same technology used by the crews of the Predator UAV warplanes flying over Afghanistan to maintain air superiority while being piloted by Air Force technicians in far-away Nevada.
Using the patented OnStar-R array of remote sensors - front, side and rear mounted cameras operating in the visible and infrared spectra, backed up my millimeter-wavelegth radar - our team of operators can see in every direction at once. Monitoring hundreds of data streams in real time, our remote computers can control every aspect of engine and suspension performance with millisecond resolution. We control the accelerating, the steering, the braking with absolute precision. There's no way that BMW driver can win this race!
OnStar-R. No other manufacturer has anything like it. Once again, GM helps make America Number 1!

Think you can get a Holden HSV GTS over here in time? Sure it's also a GM car but I bet it can give the CTS a run for it's money.

Imagine a garage, the only lights on being spotlights shining down on cars.
"When we challenged the European auto companies to a straight up fight..."
(man walking down garage, shutting off the spotlights above the euro competitors...)
"Suddenly, they wouldn't put their money where their cars were."
(only light remaining on is a spotlight above the CTS-V)
"So why should you?"
(man gets in and starts the car, fade to black and then the following text..)
"Cadillac CTS-V."
(engine rev)
"The best car has won." #gmvsjalopnik

Imagine you're cruising down a highway one fine day, enjoying the uniquely American freedom of a scenic cruise in your solid, well-built, American-made Cadillac CTS-V. You glance in the mirror and see some insolent
BMW driver flashing his high-beams behind you, eager to run you down and leave you in the dirt.
Are you going to stand for that? And sure, your Cadillac may well be faster than his BMW, but as an enthusiast you are well aware that it takes a practiced driver to get the best out of any car. And how long has it been since you've taken your Caddy out on a race track?
