The so called, "3 diamonds" are actually derived from the 3 leaf design of the Mitsubishi family crest, although the exact symbol was used by the Vikings, I think it meant heavenly power or something along those lines. Yes that ship is in Pearl Harbor, I lived in Honolulu for a time, its interesting how so many Japanese visit Pearl Harbor, I guess the yanks visit Hiroshima as well. I met a navy man when I was there, he told me a Japanese group asked him where the Arizona Memorial/Pearl Harbor was, he replied, "Right where you left it" I had to laugh...
Certainly it was done to confuse photographers, but I wonder if it wasn't also an inside joke by engineers are designers trying to take a shot at Mitsubishi for copying the VW/Audi grille.
Three diamonds, four circles....I think these disguise-kit designers fell asleep in elementary-school geometry class.
Technically, isn't this a larger Mitsubishi?
It is pretty funny how whomever camoed this mule put it out there that Mitsubishi ripped off their huge gaping grille and merely inverted it to serve their purposes. However, everything from the Fiesta to the new BMW concept has these scoopy caves for grilles now too...I don't decry them, I just hope all this trapezoid lust doesn't go too far too fast.
In the next decade, maybe we can look forward to some nice rhomboidal action.
@bmoreDLJ: I would just like to point out that the Evo grille looks much more aggressive than any audi. I would hardly believe that mitsubishi was ripping off audi, no matter how much people would love to believe it.
@KTown_WhiteBoy: If there's one thing they do well, it's efficiency of processes. Why go to the trouble of even letting the customer attempt to make a warranty claim in the first place? That's a horrific waste of resources!
