First Hyundai Genesis Coupe Crash Caught In Korea

The last thing any automaker could want leading up to the launch of an exciting new model is images of the car wrecked against a concrete post. Unfortunately for Hyundai, this 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe was caught making its first entry into the destruction derby of automotive life in Korea. According to a translated version of the Korean website Luckyworld, the car was wearing a temporary plate when it smashed into the concrete barrier around a street light, leaving both passenger and driver in critical condition. Since we don't really know the circumstances of the crash, we're not willing to rule out this being not a temp plate, but a manufacturers plate, meaning the car could have been a non-salable tester. Which is why we're willing to overlook for the moment a lack of airbag deployment.

Hyundai Releases Specs On Genesis Coupe: V6 Hits 310 HP, Turbo Four-Banger Gets 30 MPG

Hyundai has provided a wealth of new details on its upcoming Genesis Coupe, including statements the 2.0-liter turbo four will deliver 210 HP on regular gas and 220 HP on high-test, along with 223 ft-lb of torque at a low, low 2,000 RPM. The kicker, or at least it was until gas dropped down below $3 per gallon, is that those output numbers are available in a car returning 30 MPG on the highway. The 2.0T Coupe will be available in four different trim levels, ranging from base to promising-sounding "R-Spec," with six-speed manual and five-speed automatic transmissions available. Check out everything you ever wanted to know about the Genesis Coupe in the release below the jump.

Hyundai Genesis Coupe Spotted In Metro Detroit Looking Yellow

Jalopnik friend Jon snapped this yellow Hyundai Genesis coupe wearing M plates on I-75 in Metro Detroit yesterday. The angle of the photo shows the dramatic side creases found on the 2-door Korean Mustang-mauler, and from the rear three-quarter the car actually looks more like a Tiburon than its designers would likely care to admit. Kudos for a surprisingly good photo using what we'd assume is a camera phone while driving; we're hoping this wasn't the cause of that accident at Big Beaver yesterday afternoon.

Street Concepts Hyundai Genesis Coupe Concept Coming To SEMA

An urban-camo version of the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe will be debuting at this year's SEMA show in Las Vegas. As the rendering of the car shows, it'll employ the "secret military project gone horribly wrong" style of SEMA design, as opposed to the "straight forward performance" look of the HKS Genesis Coupe or the "possibly ripped-off Lexus tuner design" look of the RMR Genesis Coupe. The performance enhancements will include a new exhaust, cold-air intake, tweaked suspension and Brembo brakes. Larger version of the rendering here. Press release below the jump. More »

HKS Tunes 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe

Even though no media outlets have yet driven the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe, that hasn’t stopped the company from handing them out to every tuner in the western hemisphere. The latest to get their grubby, carbon-stained hands on the Coupe is HKS, known for sticking big turbos in little cars — which is exactly the approach they took with the Hyundai Genesis Coupe. No performance numbers have been revealed yet, but expect HKS to unveil a range of Genesis performance upgrades, along with the boobs of several trashy booth babes at the SEMA show in November. The full press release follows the jump.

2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Chillin' In SoCal

Ever since we saw the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe revealed live at the New York Auto Show, we've been keeping our eyes open for any of these potential Mustang-killers out testing in the wild. Now, thanks to one eagle-eyed forum fan-boy over at SoCalEuro, we've got this set of KGP-esque shots of the little-South-Korean-that-could rigorously running through the paces of a mini-mall parking lot spot in the land of movie stars and materialism.

2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe: The Epic Reveal, Live!

Wow. Ok, so we were pretty excited about the new 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe, but we had no idea just how awesome the reveal would be. None of that crap about pulling a sheet off a semi-functional prototype. No, these Hoondais were blatantly fully functional. That's thanks to either a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 making 223 HP, or a 3.8-liter V6 that pumps out 310 HP. Hyundai is promising that this will be the cheapest 300+ HP coupe in the world. Full press release after the jump.

    2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe: A Mustang-Killer Revealed

So what's the one complaint most often levied against the Ford Mustang? How about the lack of Independent Rear Suspension? Guess what? The 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe has it. Here's the rest of the details — 212 HP 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine or a range-topping all-aluminum 306 HP DOHC 3.8-liter V6 engine. It'll be available starting in the spring of 2009. We'll have many more details shortly and our full gallery of the event in a moment — but yes, it's just been revealed.

Even More 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Press Photos Revealed

Well, after the Tiburon-lovers at NewTiburon dropped a hot load of shots of the new 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe over the weekend, some sites (we won't mention any names, MT, don't worry!) were apparently confused over which shots made it out on to the web and just decided to drop 'em all. So, we're just going to follow suit. Here's all the press shots you could ever want — well, until we get you the live photos on Wednesday at the New York Auto Show.

2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Revealed, Unofficially!

Taking a quick break from the GM-gasm on the new El Camino of the past two days, it appears as though the Hyundai-hungry folks at the New Tiburon forums have blown a load of press shots out on to the web early on the new 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe before next week's New York Auto Show. Other than the hot shots, there doesn't appear to be much more to tell you. Well, based on one shot, it appears like the new kim-chee-crazy muscle car redlines at 6500 RPM, and, oh yes, it's one hot looking entry into the muscle car wars looking much different than the 2010 Hyundai Genesis RWD coupe concept we saw at the LA Auto Show last year. We're certainly looking forward to seeing it live on the show floor next week. Especially if they bring the same lovely lady they had in LA and who we've now affectionately named Genesis Priddy. All we know is this little deuce-door gets our thoughts all a-tingly. What about yours?
