Also, regarding the age of the current ranger; what really needs to be updated? It's a small truck that appears to be predominately purchased by municipal utility companies for use as work trucks. I don't think there's any reason to restyle it, or add sat-radio, electric sun visors or heated perforated leather seats, just for shits and giggles. Ford paid off that tooling a looooong time ago, let them enjoy some decent margins for a change.
Now, if they could get the producers of Primeval to trade the Tacoma for this, Ford could get some decent product placement. After all, when you're chasing dinosaurs and big-boobed ex wives through time anomalies, you'd need something with Wildtrax stuck on the side.

More to the point, what the domestics are doing now CLEARLY isn't working, so maybe they should actually try what all the enthusiasts have been saying for so long. They can't do worse than they are doing right now. Which is dying.

About that...
The whole one model for US, one model for Europe, Australia, etc is something I never understood. Isnt it more expensive for a global company to build different models for diff parts of the world? what is the advantage?

Europe will be getting a new Thai-built Ranger. The US is screwed.
We are falling behind in the press release word count contest with BMW, so we will describe in excruciating detail the front end styling.
We have a wind tunnel and aren't afraid to use it.
We have three body styles. Single Cab (SCab), Rear Access Panel (RAP) and Double Cab. The RAP system includes mini-doors for easy loading of dead hookers and a P Diddy CD.
For Chechnya we are building a chassis cab version of both the RAP and SCab. This will allow the rebels to custom mount gun turrets.
In order to boost our word count and to put lipstick on a pig we describe how contemporary and downright cool our styling is. Again.
We have equipped the new Ranger with a CD player to drown out road noise. In an automotive first we will have power windows and mirrors.
Two Duratorq TDCi engines will be provided. The 2.5L engine produces 105kW and 330Nm. The 3.0L engine produces 115kW and 380Nm. We only put these in metric to confuse Americans.
Like most diesel engines, these produce max torque at 1800 rpm making it ideal for hoonage. Also, the 4x4 version is designed for fording rivers, something all Europeans are concerned about.

Based on the bed dimensions of the current Ranger vs the 2010 Ranger, I would say that they are pretty similar, although I would expect the new one to be slightly larger due to safety standards.
