    I think that Saint Colin of Hethel would argue that chicken-wire would have been a much better design decision.

    Not that Saint Colin would have anything to do with a PT Cruiser in the first place...

    An acquaintance of mine has a convertible one that's heavily modified. It's pushing somewhere a little bit past 300 whp which I'm amazed that the drivetrain can even handle it. It may not be jalop to you but I get this vibe from it, a "I don't care what you think, I'm just balls crazy car" kind of vibe.

    I guess when we team together (caliber and pt cruiser convertible) we're the most jalop hated car buddies on the road :D

    My computer, when I put it together a year and a half ago, was a moderately awesome gaming rig. Six months out of date, really, but I got good deals on all the components.

    You're probably thinking that I'm going to make some comment about how it's no longer relevant, it's outdated, it's a pile of crap.

    But that's not where I was going with this.

    The guts of that machine - motherboard, dual-core CPU, three-generations-old once-high-end video card, etc. - are the PT's turbo motor. It might not be hung like a horse, but it gets the job done quick.

    No, the old case I had it in was the real analogy here. It was from about 1998, and had originally housed a 300 MHz Celeron system, but had been cruelly hacked and modified over the years.

    300 mhz celeron system?! jesus what was the card used back then? the geforce 2? 1998, rainbow six for the pc came out then, but I didn't get it until 1999, still those were the days...

    @UglyDuckCar: Heh, no, the GeForce2 was from 2000 onward... they still made 'em by '03, though, 'cos I got one for free out of a god-awful P4 system of that vintage that I'm still using today as a backup card (ran it in my mother's computer for a while, then in my spare machine at the time... now it's mainly used for testing).

    I don't remember what the Celery had. Probably onboard i810, maybe a 2MB PCI card, a Trio3D or something.

    I only came over here because I thought this was going to be like one of those 'guess how many Jelly Beans are in the jar' type contests and we'd get some sweet Jalopnik swag for getting closest to the actual weight.

    That is one excessively beefy grille for such a powder puff car.
