Ben, I could really kick your ass for failing to deliver VIDEO (WITH AUDIO) of the drive-out.

Hearing some of these beauties would definitely be something worth wasting some serious bandwidth over.

    Ok, ok, I'll calm down.

But come on! We're JALOPNIK here.

WE NEED AUDIO (and videO) OF SUCH AN EVENT as THOUSANDS of HP firing up...

I get goose bumps just looking at the drive out pictures. I'm sure I would piss myself in person.

You want we should identify all these? I spy what seems to be a near pristine 56 Chevy--usually obscured by its big and little brothers.

Did you get any more pics of that Ford in the first gallery pic? I'm guessing it's a '63 Galaxie (though the taillights seem to be from a similar-vintage Falcon) but even if it's not, it looks bad-ass.

I know I've said it before, but you did a good job on the Autorama coverage, Ben. If it weren't for the dang plague I would have been there Friday afternoon.

    There's always next year.

Speaking of next year, maybe the Lions will win a game and the Tigers will go to the post season, too! And maybe Michigan football will be back to at least .500 (Go Blue!).

And maybe, just maybe...while I'm thinking of next year...Oakland basketball won't choke and will make in the tournament.

@Mike the Dog: Gawker Media isn't interested in supporting internet fads like "video" so the company SLR I have is a Canon XTi. Had I grabbed by personal camera, a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18, I would have been able to shoot video from across the hall with the 18x optical zoom.

I just wanted to take a moment to that the guys and gals at Jalopnik for bringing us these marvelous hot rods. I am an old-timer who still knows all the words to Jan & Dean's 'Bucket T'*. I always dreamed of building one, to my specifications - independent front suspension (maybe even IRS), disc brakes, all-alloy, OHC, EFI engine and a six speed. But alas... Sort of like remembering being with a pleasing young lady, yes it was nice but I am not sure I recall why and I know it ain't gonna happen again (It'll happen to you!). Sigh.

[*It was actually a rewrite of a song called 'Jenny Lee'. "Found her in a barn in Tennessee, Paid five bucks for my bucket T. Took three years of sweat and blood, To clean off all that Tennessee mud. My bucket T... (etc.).]

I've learned a few things over my 32 years on this earth. One of the biggest lessons a man has to learn is what his tastes in women are.

When I was but a young lad my eyes would always focus on the hotties. Women like Kathy Ireland and Claudia Schiffer were the ones I was attracted to. This led to some very dry years since girls my age that were in that same league were rarely attracted to the skinny, nerdy me. I'm talking to you Brandi Revenaugh.

During these formative years I also cultured my love of cars. I had a subscription to Car and Driver and could hardly wait each month for it to arrive. I would cut out pictures of cars and put them on my wall or on the ceiling next to my Kathy Ireland poster.

I learned a lot about cars and I learned a lot about my taste in cars. I like to look at shiny, outlandish street rods with flames and chrome everywhere. However, I learned that I would rather own something just as powerful, but more subdued. I don't necessarily want everyone yelling at me to do a burnout. I want them to look at my car and say it doesn't look like much, but then keep looking at it and see how much there is if you spend the time to look.

Somewhere around my junior year in high school I finally figured out that my taste in cars is reflective of my taste in women. Sure, its nice to look at the supermodels or the hotties. But I don't want to take them home. No, I like women who may not be the most gorgeous, but who have brains and personality. Women who make you realize how much there is when you take the time to look.

One of the best lessons a man can learn is that your taste in women and cars have a strong parallel. If I had figured out that the understated beauty of the cars I like should be indicative of the girls I should have been focusing on, maybe I would have had better luck with the women in high school.

Or at least I would have been less frustrated.

@engineerd the Preview-free edition: Wow, I can't believe I made through that whole thing then forgot to really tie it back to this post.

My point was this car is more understated than a lot of the other stuff at Autorama. No monstrous engine, no bright paint job, it isn't overly chromed. But its beautiful. I like it more than that Pro Comp 1930 coupe. Yeah, the Pro Comp was nice to look at, but I would much rather own something like this.
