    I'm torn over the removal of the "edges." The new softer rear is nice... but I mean the original had more squareness... which was nice, linking the design together across the line-up...

    This is a Gallardo with different sheetmetal and an interior.


    The 4.2L and TDI were more in-line with the spirit of Audi.


    The 4.2 works as the thinking man's supercar, while the TDI is the mad scientist's supercar.

    @joshman - chasing that star: If I had supercar money, the TDI is the only supercar I'd seriously consider getting.


    It's the only one unique enough to really pique my interest.

    @Mad_Science: How bout they just put in two of the standard VW TDIs and call it done? That should work, right? Kind of like what Ford did to create the Aston V12? Two Taurus engines smooshed together?

    @Bumblebee: It's not like VW/Audi to be cautious with engine deployment. They've got like dozens of them. The 5.2 is fully developed for the street...I'm guessing the V12 TDI just isn't passing muster with Audi's product team. Could be the weight? Could it be the lingering disappointment over the W8?

    @layabout met the real Santa:


    For some reason, I think that all Audis look best in white. They are the only cars I can actually say that for. Nearly every other car looks terrible in white.

    All I know is that while traveling from one end of Germany to another, and seeing dozens of cool cars, an R8 generated the most excitement among the blokes I was with. In person it does look extremely bad ass.
