Theoretically less maintenance, too.

Don't tell me electric motorcycles aren't sexy.

it says 300 Watts, You mean Amps, 300 watts will barely make a motocross bike move much less vaporize a wrench. (300 watts at 48 volts is 6 amps)
it says 95% efficient, that's pretty much impossible considering the amount of current they pump through the system, around 80% is where a 15HP motor with a 300 amp 48 volt controller will be at.
(I've used the same motor and controller system in a go cart at home.)

The Brazilians are the only ones that are actually doing it green, so you are excused?

Mmm, rich.

Once the production costs get down on theses I can see them being huge sellers as christmas presents, etc..
The fact that it's totally quiet makes it sound like you're riding a pedal bike when in reality you're flying down the street (which I can see being dangerous).
But oh well, I still want one.

Just out of curiosity, what does a comparitve gas dirtbike cost?
02/19/09
But as a raging generality, I would say: about the same maybe slightly less. It really depends mostly on the amount of good racing kit the gasser comes with.

Now, all this talk about eating batteries has made me hungry.

In graverobber's absence: loud pipes save lives.
02/19/09
Did they put a high-frequency whine at low speeds on these?
If not, may I recommend this?

Much too complicated.
Just stick the resumes of former Saturn and Pontiac employees in the spokes.

@layabout now with V8 power: Yup. Motorcycles already have a disadvantage at being seen. The motorcyclist could be doing everything right and not driving like an ass and still have people walk out in front of it or pull out in front of it.
Its not necessarily the motorcyclist I'm worried about. Its the other asswipes that don't think they got the "rear view mirror" option on their car.

I own a Suzuki Boulevard as well. Still stock pipes. Loud pipes irratate neighborhoods. And cause people to hate you and still not look at you. Plus if you decide to ride at odd hours (i work 2nd shift myself). You just piss off even more people.
So for those who think Loud Pipes Save Lives! Get your head out of your asses. And like it was said earlier. Ride like everyones out to get you. Because they are.

Especially the Aliens.
Look out for the lowrider spaceships. They're killer.

As said earlier, ride like you're invisible and silent and you'll be safe.

Thank you, I'll be here all week and through the weekend. Don't forget to tip your waitress.

So for the man who has it all: Tesla, Volt, Karma, and an electric lawnmower, we give you the 2009 Zero X.

Did I misread that?
Yep. I'm an idiot.
In that case, you are probably quite correct. 20-30 min sounds like a realistic estimate.
