2010 Nissan GT-R To Lose Troublesome Launch Control
Nissan execs have apparently told the reporters over at Edmunds Straightline that the 2009 Nissan GT-R will be the first and last GT-R with the "launch control" system as the company is tired of dealing with the warranty nightmares that have convinced people they can't do GT-R donuts. GT-R Skips Matte Black, Goes Straight To Matte Gold!
This matte gold Nissan GT-R was spotted in Dubai, where it was possibly turning its custom-painted nose up at the relatively gaudy all-chrome McLaren SLR. This could be a sign that the matte black trend, as exemplified by the matte black F430 and matte black Veyron, is being replaced by a new matte color. If less is more, and matte black is less, matte gold is slightly more than less. More » -

Godzilla Smash! Another Totaled Nissan GT-R
After seeing the Nissan GT-R crashed in America, in Malaysia, in Hong Kong, and on the Isle Of Man, we've found another. This white GT-R, with just 349 miles on the odometer, has shown up totaled in a Nashville auction yard. It's said to have about $55,000 worth of damage, so we're not sure anyone is going to bid very much when it hits the block today. No word on just how the GT-R got to be in this predicament, but we're pretty sure this isn't covered by the warranty. More » -

Most Hideous Nissan GT-R Ever?
Messing with the Nissan GT-R is risky. Even though you're not supposed to, sometimes the results can be quite tasteful. The problem, though, is when something like this happens. Someone decided it would be a good idea to wrap their GT-R in black and bright-green matte-finish vinyl. As if that wasn't bad enough, a set of gaudy 22" rims have also been bolted on. The Zele carbon fiber body kit wouldn't have been terrible by itself, but it just adds to the mess here. Sure, the car probably has a bit more oomph thanks to an HKS boost controller and a Mine's exhaust, but it still can't outrun its ugly. Surprisingly, the car does not belong to Brian O'Conner, Paul Walker's character in The Fast And The Furious. Remember his Eclipse? We've included it in the gallery below...see if you can figure out which car is which. More » -

Nissan Officially Responds To Porsche Skepticism, Recommends Driving Lessons
The war of words between Nissan and Porsche over Nurburgring lap times continues. Today Nissan officially responded to Porsche's statement last month that they were unable to get within 25 seconds of the Nissan GT-R's claimed fastest 'Ring time, leading Porsche to claim Nissan had used a ringer with race tires. Seems that Nissan still has the tires they used, however, and they're inviting Porsche to check them out — along with video of the run shot by a Japanese magazine. To top it off, Nissan states the GT-R used, rather than being a ringer, was actually hampered by 110 pounds of extra telemetrics. So what gives? Nissan has inferred Porsche must have neither properly run-in the Nissan nor learned how to extract the most from the Japanese supercar's AWD system. Choice Nissan quotes after the jump.

Seibon Dry-Look Carbon Fiber Makes Godzilla Look Cheap
Uh-oh, more folks messing with Godzilla. At first we liked the way the dry carbon fiber hood and trunk on this Nissan GT-R looked compared to the more popular glossy stuff. But the more we stare at it, the more we think it looks kinda cheap. We're reminded of guys driving around in Honda Civic coupes with carbon fiber hoods that were once glossy but have since faded in the sun. That's not good considering these parts from Seibon are so new they're not even out yet. Perhaps it's just that the rest of the car doesn't match the dry carbon fiber? More » -

Nissan GT-R Shaves Back To Get That "Clean Look"

Obviously the large rear wing of has been removed, but to smooth things out even more, the rear reflectors have been tinted black and the Nissan badge in back has been removed. The owner also apparently decided to throw on an aftermarket exhaust from performance tuner Mine's, and a set of BBS LM-DBK wheels, just for good measure. [via GTRblog] -

Porsche Smells Rat, Claims Nissan Cheating On GT-R Nurburgring Lap Times
The boys at Porsche, obviously stunned that the Nissan GT-R achieved a claimed Nurburgring lap time of 7:29 — faster than either their 911 Turbo or GT2 — decided to do a little testing of their own. Using a stock GT-R sourced from the States, Porsche's 'Ring expert was able to perform a best lap of just 7:54, easily beaten by both the 911 Turbo (7:38) and GT2 (7:34). The results were no surprise to Porsche, considering that its cars have more power yet weigh less than the GT-R, leading the engineers in Stuttgart to claim Nissan was running its tests using race tires. Nissan Raises MSRP On GT-R By $7K, Base Model To Now Start At Almost $77K
Apparently forged blocks of badass have jumped in price lately, because raw material costs are said to be behind a $7,000 price increase on the Nissan GT-R. Nissan GT-R Crashed In The USA
Godzilla, or the new Nissan GT-R as some call it, has only just started stomping around our shores, already we've got our first report of a GT-R smashed up somewhere stateside. Details are vague (some say the GT-R got into some fisticuffs with a Corvette ZR1 in a dark alley) but it's clear the incident wasn't exactly a minor fender-bender. The forum fanboys at MyGTR think it may have had something to do with the GT-R being driven into a pizza parlor, so maybe it was trying to take out a Ferrari or something. Nissan GT-R Transformers Toy Turns Godzilla Into Killer Robot
The Nissan GT-R may be known as Godzilla, but Japanese toymaker Takara-Tomy sees the supercar more as a super robot. Don't get too excited: This 1/32 scale model doesn't mean you'll be seeing the GT-R on the big screen in Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen. Nope, this is just a toy, for now at least. Top Gear Crashes Nissan GT-R
Top Gear Magazine was recently having some fun on the Isle of Man with a Nissan GT-R, but the playtime ended unexpectedly when the driver of the GT-R slammed on the brakes. That would be fine in any normal car, but Godzilla came to a halt so abruptly that the Audi behind it just couldn't stop quickly enough. [GT-R Blog] Update: The guys at CarTribe say this is indeed the same GT-R that the Stig had out on the Top Gear test track. We also know that the black beast (the only GT-R officially imported by Nissan UK so far) was quickly repaired and is now back to normal, as can be vouched for by anyone who saw it run at the Goodwood Festival of Speed just a few days after the accident. -

Nissan GT-R Laps Top Gear Track With A Time Of...
After last week, when Clarkson took the GT-R across Japan, many wondered what it would do at the hands of Mr. Stig-oto. Well, guess what they did this week? Don't worry, we're not going to spoil the surprise of The Stig taking the 2009 Nissan GT-R around the Top Gear test track. Godzillas, Geishas And Organized Crime: 0-60 Delves Into Motorex
Before there was the 2009 Nissan GT-R there was the Skyline, and if you wanted one in this country you had to go through an importer called Motorex. The problem was, the company didn't do what it was supposed to: import cars, convert them to DOT spec and then deliver them to customers. Sure, some cars got delivered, some cars even got converted, but most failed to do either. Until now, the full details of the Skyline's disastrous entry into the US market were the stuff of Internet legend. Now, thanks to 0-60, we know the facts behind the Motorex's myth, the government investigation and the repossessed cars. Check out the feature in the magazine's summer issue, available now. [0-60] -

Garage 419 Debates ZR1 Vs. GT-R, Nurburgring Times Faked?
In the wake of the 2009 Corvette ZR1's record lap of the Nurburgring, some people are arguing whether the claims made manufacturers are legit. We weren't the only ones. Once Godzilla Went Flat Black...
We've always thought there's something really sexy looking about a car in flat black. We don't know why — maybe it's the somewhat unfinished look or maybe it's just the way it soaks up the light around it — but whatever the reason, we totally heart the vibe it gives. Especially in this rear-end shot of the new 2009 Nissan GT-R taken as Godzilla sat waiting outside a hotel in Singapore — probably waiting until the next time he gets to attack Japan. Haltech-Tuned 2009 Nissan GT-R Gives A Down Under Strip Show, Bests Inside Line's Quarter-Mile
The 2009 Nissan GT-R's one powerful wonder of technology. The ECU's so advanced we're told it makes you feel like you're behind the wheel of the world's most advanced driving simulator, like some sort of Playstation reality game. As even the most high-and-mighty of the buff-book world have found out first hand, even with all the technologically advanced doo-dads and doo-hickeys behind the dash, the 3.8-liter V6 rated at 480 HP and a torque rating almost equal to that (430 lb-ft for those of you who are counting), this AWD Godzilla-like beast is no toy. A toy wouldn't have let Inside Line snag themselves a 1/4-mile time of 11.6 seconds using the new GT-R's launch control system on an abandoned airstrip. But that amazing time's not stopping the Aussie tuning shop of Haltech from cracking that Game-Boy-like ECU and playing around with the timing to see what they can come up with. The tuning shop from the land down under took their ECU-tuned GT-R to a local strip to find out what they could come up with on the 1/4 mile and the Godzilla fan-boys from GTRblog were there to record the showing. Their results after the jump. More »
