I think I could master the art of 'old world craftsmanship' at GM in exactly 3 minutes. And, I if I was buying a world class performance sedan, do I want 'old world' anything on it?
"CTS-V. It's not just a great car; it's a great hood. And really, isn't cool hood construction what you look for most in a car? ...See your Cadillac dealer today."
mkay, how exactly does that combine "old world craftsmanship with modern robotics?" It starts with a person putting a piece of aluminum in to a machine, the robots do all the work, and then the person pulls it out of the machine. Where's the old world?
@weatherman: I wondered the same thing. I guess "old world" means there is still a human there. You know, 'cause there were humans in the "old world", too.
Better hope the glue holds at 190+. State of the Art? How... I've been gluing crap together (including my fingers) since I was five. IS it because of the Robots.
@Woodgrain: And that's why the unions are screwing the industry over. They think moving stuff around is skilled labor, and therefore deserves super high pay.
There are many other UAW jobs out there requiring much more than this you know. You don't know what her classification or pay is. Could be way too high, or about what most make doing similar work.

Personally, I like machine-made stuff. Unless it's a piece of artwork or something, I want consistency, dammit!

Did you see the press in there anywhere?
That was assembly. The 1200+ ton press of whatever is fed by automated coil.
But overall, people are still involved in the mfg of goods because it is most cost effective for tasks like that.

1. I sit in driver's seat
2. I take car for spin
3. Hood suddenly has giant bulge
The lower dash is also completely destroyed, but that's another issue.

I'm actually being serious here, kind of.

Someone call up the boys in accounting.
Tell them anything, but keep them building the CTS-V.
