If Mercedes had paid attention to some pranksters at Caltech c. 1962, they would have secretly replaced some of the cards to show an R class instead of a Q5.
I was at Caltech in 1984 when the more recent Rose Bowl hijack was executed. The stadium shut the electronic scoreboard system down quickly, then pursued my poor classmates to the full extent of the law. You see, the 1984 Summer Olympics in L.A. were to use that same venue in just a few months, and the Caltech prank embarrassed the folks in charge of security, and many politicians. The students' clandestine receiver could have just as easily been a bomb.
@Charles_Barrett - Now with Variable-Valve Timing: Hahaha...I read about that one, too. Funny stuff, although they did come down really hard on them. I'm sure if those guys had done it a year later they wouldn't have police records now.
P.S. As a ME, I was going to make a joke about how you can't spell geek without double-e's, but my username has double-e's, so it would backfire on me.
I wouldn't buy a Mercedes that starts with an "M" either. Which pretty much rules out Mercedes altogether. A Jag, on the other hand, if only I could drop that kind of cash on a car...
I would want a Celestial Black Metallic XJ Super V8 with the 510hp engine out of the XFR.
@tekamul: If someone pointed a gun to my head and told me I needed to get an SUV, I would go straight to the Infiniti dealership and pick up an FX50. Those sons of bitches are mean.
If this really an Audi, 25% of those people will have alzheimers and forget how they're supposed to operate, 25% will have thyroid problems that will cause them to wear out much faster than normal, and 25% will quit as soon as the warranty runs out and their replacements will cost a fortune.

...yea, I'd say they nailed their target audience with that one.

I've heard about a fair few CalTech pranks, but I have never heard of that one. That would have been brilliant.

Oops, it looks like it was really 1961.

No one has a sense of humor anymore...

Yet had they done that stunt anytime *after* 11 Sept. 2001, they'd probably STILL be guests at the Gitmo Hilton...
