2009 Ford F-150 Release Postponed Two Months, Truck Production Cut

Ford announced today that it was delaying the release of their 2009 Ford F-150 on the heels of GM's announcement that they would likely delay the development of the replacement for their GMT900 platform. Obviously, the merger of high gas prices and the F-150 getting thumped by the Civic has convinced Ford it also needs to cut the production of its older models. Resources are also shifting toward the Edge, Flex and smaller cars like the Focus. In a frank statement, CEO Alan Mullaly said "We view the move to smaller, more fuel-efficient vehicles as permanent and we are responding to customer demand." Press release below the jump. More »

2009 Ford F-150 Raptor Inching Closer To Full Monty

Mike Levine over at Pickuptrucks.com has some new spy photos of the much-anticipated (by Ford fan-boys) 2009 Ford F-150 Raptor, the factory rock-basher Ford plans to "drive... right up Toyota's ass." These pictures start to show off the new nose punctuated by a stamped mesh grille, and you even get a glimpse of the beefy factory skid plate. We can hardly wait to see those sweet Fox Racing bits tucked under the 35" tires. [Pickuptrucks.com]

2009 Ford F-150 5.4-Liter V8 Power Ratings Leaked On To Internet

Someone attending a Ford dealer training session for the new half-ton 2009 Ford F-150 in Michigan took a picture of an information placard revealing the six-speed automatic 5.4-liter V8 will achieve 320 horses at 5,200-rpm and 390 lb-ft of torque at 3,500-rpm. These new numbers, a modest improvement over the 2008 Ford F-150's 300-hp at 5,000-rpm / 365 lb-ft at 3,750-rpm, come after Ford let slip the numbers on the upcoming 4.4-liter Ford diesel V8 we'll see in the 2010.5 Ford F-150 and the 2010 Ford Super Duty. Detroit Auto Show: 2009 Dodge Ram Versus 2009 Ford F-150

Since the motoring press is not going to get to get our hands on either the 2009 Dodge Ram or the 2009 Ford F-150 for a while we thought we'd jump the gun and do a comparison based off things we've seen and scraps of info they've told us.

Detroit Auto Show: We Talk 2009 Ford F-150, Toby Keith, Lobo Edition With Engineers

After spending part of the day with the fine folks responsible for the new 2009 Ford F-150 we've had some of our questions answered. First of all, they're not in any hurry to release the power numbers so you can stop asking, though they're going to be adding the diesel in 2010. Those wanting a manual transmission? Petition all you want, but even with gas prices going up the number of F-150's orders with a manual transmission keeps going down. More »

Toby Keith Has An Amerigasm For The 2009 Ford F-150

Toby Keith, the Ford Truck Man, he of the Bold Toby Keith Emissions Boot-in-Ass Emissions was on hand to introduce the new 2009 Ford F-150 pickup truck. It's a fantastic Amerigasm of our country-ism. No talk of EcoBoost or hybrid powertrains here. Later, basically everyone with a camera stormed Keith and put a camera in his face. Which was probably worth the money they paid him. USA! USA! USA!

Detroit Auto Show: 2009 Ford F-150 Official Pics and Details

The 2009 Ford F-150 has arrived and, for potential buyers, there are two major stories here other than the new frame and exterior: more standard/available features and more model variations. Now standard is the AdvanceTrack with Roll Stability Control (RSC), Trailer Sway Control, the new Tailgate w/ box side steps and the new "Easy Fuel" capless fuel-filler system that uses a a sensor to automatically seal shut when the nozzle is removed. Available on all F-150's is the SYNC system (with all goodies), new 700-watt Sony sound system, integrated trailer brake controller (segment first on light-duty pickups) and rearview camera assist. There are going to be a total of 35variations of the new F-150 (XL, STX, FX4, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch), including the new Platinum series, which adds extra detailing and chrome on the outside and features such as ash wood accents, 10-way adjustable leather captain's chairs and standard 20-inch polished aluminum wheels. (UPDATE: More photos of the new Ford F-150 in the gallery below):

2009 Ford F-150 Embargo Broken By New York Times

See, it's not just those of us in "new media" anymore. Nope, the web team at the New York Times have gone and done it — they're now officially embargo breakers. Actually, they're officially embargo breakers not once, not twice, but four times in one night. The Ol' Grey Lady put up more than just the one shot of the new 2009 Ford F-150 Platinum Edition above — they also appear to have accidentally let loose a shot of the new 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. So, to one-up their embargo-breaking, we'll break something else about the number-one selling vehicle in the world after the jump. UPDATE: Wait, wait — there's more. They also broke the embargo on the new Fisker hybrid and the Mitsubishi R/A Concept! What a night!

2009 Ford F-150 Grille, All Taped Up

The Ford F-150's the vehicle that sold more than any other this past year. Yup, more than the Camry, more than the Accord and more than it's pickup truck rivals. Although we already knew we'd be seeing the newly-redesigned 2009 Ford F-150 this week at the Detroit Auto Show, and we already have seen some pretty clear spy photos of the new 09 F-150 a couple of weeks back. Heck, we've even seen the new logo (PickupTruck.com's even got a shot of the actual logo). But still, it's good to see the grille getting a bit more defined for us — even if it is all taped up. More shots coming in a moment. Full spy report from KGP below the jump. UPDATE: Full high-res shots now included below.

Detroit Auto Show: 2009 Ford F-150 Logo Revealed, Bubbly

Somehow we came across this logo for the new 2009 Ford F-150 pickup we're expecting to be revealed at the Detroit Auto Show in just two weeks. We're not even really sure where it came from or how we came across the site we found it at. But one thing's for sure — it's most assuredly the new logo for the new boldly moving pickup truck from the Dearborn, MI -based automaker. Yes, it's the tape-covered logo we've seen in the the F-150 spy photos. And yes, it IS a slow news day. Why do you ask? [via TopSpeed]

2009 Ford F-150 Uncovered!

UPDATE:The 2009 Ford F-150 officially revealed at the Detroit Auto Show! While we've already given you what you should expect from the new 2009 Ford F-150, and we've already even showed you a heavily cloaked new Toby Keith-powered truck, we've now got a real treat — an opportunity to peel some more layers off the exterior. We must say that having an engineer or marketing maven driving around town in an almost completely undisguised 2009 Ford F-150's one way of getting yourself canned from the big blue oval — talk about a "bold move." Unfortunately for whoever was driving the new mini-Super Chief-like prototype hauler from Ford, the sneaky spies from KGP were there to snap a quick shot or two for your viewing pleasure. While we're expecting to see this bad-boy Tonka-truck revealed officially at the Detroit Auto Show in January, we're still trying to figure out exactly what to expect underneath the newly-styled sheet metal that screams "Hi, I'm Dave." But hey, we do have KGP's unvarnished opinion in the spy report below the jump on the new sheet metal adorning Ford's cash cow — so we guess there's that.

2009 Ford F-150

Hot on the heels of Ford fan-boy Igor's take on what to expect from the 2009 Ford F-150, now we've got some new shots of both the re-designed interior and exterior of the new Ford F-150 pickup from the many minions of Brenda Priddy. While the truck's still pretty well covered, we're most certainly able to see a very Super Chief-like look peeking out from behind the grille netting. So Igor was right about that. The interior on the other hand is of the "Platinum" level 2009 Lincoln Mark LT and looks very snazzy indeed. Expect to see this new Ford F-150 to sport one or maybe both of Ford's new 5.8-liter and 6.2-liter BOSS V8 engines to make its way into the F-150 and eventually even see Ford's new 4.4-liter Lion diesel to show up under the "power dome" — a first for the F150 lineup. The new pickup's expected to hit the showroom floor January at the Detroit Auto Show, dealership floors come second quarter of 2008 and of course it'll be a 2009 model. Check out the full report from Priddy & Company after the jump.

What To Expect From The 2009 Ford F-150

If you are one of the proud members of the FoMoCo tribe, or know you'll be having to buy yourself a new pickup truck sometime near the end of next year, then you may be interested in knowing exactly that. The always Ford friendly and usually ESL-tastic Igor Holas has all the answers you'll need over at AutoSavant and with a sub-headline like "Ford is getting ready to trump all competition again," you certainly know it won't be subjective. OK, it's totally the most biased piece of writing on earth — but would we expect anything less from a true believer? Anyway, the big question of what it'll look like supposedly can be answered by staring at a picture of the 2006 Ford Super Chief concept and then slowly let your eyes relax. Yeah, all we can see is a schooner too. [AutoSavant]
