2009 Acura TL Priced At $34,995

Fancy a bit of buck-toothed big Acura style? The 2009 Acura TL starts at $34,995. That will buy you a 3.5-Liter V6 and an automatic transmission (a manual is coming next year). Speed freaks will want to spend up to the $38,505 Super Handling All Wheel Drive-equipped model with the 3.7-liter, 305 HP V6 (the most powerful Acura ever). The truly committed can plump for the $43,235 TL SH-AWD with 19-inch wheels, summer performance tires and Technology Package. None of those prices include the $760 destination and handling fee. Click through for full details from Honda’s press release.

2009 Acura TL, Revealed: SH-AWD Is The New Type-S

You'll be reading the boss-man's official review of the new 2009 Acura TL and the Type-S-replacing 2009 Acura TL SH-AWD later this week. But, since everyone else is doing it, here's our drop of embargoed details. For starters, mock the big buck-toothed front end if you will — frankly, we've already beat that horse to its second death, so we're going to spend our time checking out the back end with its centerline action, looking like Acura used their "good" design team on the rear. In addition to the new exterior, the interior has become more cockpit-like, utilizing a design direction seemingly straight from the Accord. That's not a bad thing. The real story's under the hood, as the base TL is getting a horsepower bump thanks to the 3.5-liter V6, bringing the four-door up to 285 HP. Reach up to the top-shelf SH-AWD TL and you'll get a beefier 305 HP 3.7-liter V6. Although both variants come mated to a five-speed auto tranny, we're told a manual 'box should be expected for the next model year. But you'll want to keep the hood up on the SH-AWD for a moment to admire Acura's picture-frame-perfect 3.7-liter engine cover. Perhaps Acura is making a statement about their powerplant designs? Hit the jump for the full press release.

2009 Acura TL Interior Gets Up-Close And Personal

We've seen plenty of the 2009 Acura TL's jagged exterior, but not much of what appears to be a newly-swankified interior until now. Though we're assuming from the language on some of the buttons that this isn't a US-spec model, the basic layout you see here will likely be much the same as what you'll find in stateside Acura showrooms this fall. If you're not excited by the slightly different take on the same black-and-beige (with silver trim!) theme that's been on pretty much every car for the past decade, Honda Acura has included a big shiny red start button to give your monotonous white-collar life a tiny whiff of excitement. 2009 Acura TL Caught In Natural Habitat, The Golf Course

We've already seen the big-nosed front end reveal of the 2009 Acura TL, but Flickr user buckeye01 managed to snag a beautiful close-up set of pics while out at the links. We finally get an up-close look at the rear of the new TL and also a peek inside. Unfortunately, all we see in the cabin is some shapely dash elements, and perforated leather seats. At the back we see a pair of dual-quad exhaust tips, huuuuuge bumper mounted reflectors, tasteful tail lights and a nice use of chrome. Does that make this the 2009 Acura TL Type-S?

2009 Acura TL Type-S Shows Us All Four Pipes In Tacoma

We've already had a good first look at the 2009 Acura TL so when we got a tip from Exit133 that they had a long-range photo of the new TL being used for a commercial in Tacoma we weren't hopeful there would be much news. Alas, unlike the rear end of 2009 TL we've already spotted around town a few times, you can make out quad-pipes, a clear sign this is almost certainly the 2009 Acura TL Type-S. Another good sign is the fact that there are clearly production staff running to move the car. So what should we expect from the new 2009 Acura TL and 2009 Acura TL Type-S?

2009 Acura TL Finally Smiles Its Toothy Grin For The Camera

In a surprise this evening, Honda's decided to drop the embargo on the new 2009 Acura TL after so many teasing spy photos. Unfortunately, instead of the photo, they should have dropped the height of their front wheel arches. Yup, those suckers are higher than a Cheech & Chong movie. But, the good news is the 2009 TL will be available in two flavors, the first coming with SH-AWD (Super Handling - All Wheel Drive) and the second will not (Not-So-Super-Handling - Front Wheel Drive). Expect to see the new TL hit the streets in the fall of 2008. Full press release after the jump. More »

2009 Acura TL Shvitzing In The Hot Desert Heat

During a drive through California's Mojave Desert, Automotive Traveler came across a 2009 Acura TL undergoing what looks to be some serious hot weather testing. We're not saying it's a sauna or anything, but we think maybe the new TL should ditch some of that camouflage to cool down. Although the guys who spotted it didn't need that to identify the new Acura, given the cars Ohio plates indicating it makes it's home at Honda's plant in Marysville, OH. Of course, we've seen the new 2009 TL several times before, so the only big mystery is how big the wide-toothed smile will be. Well, that and the powertrain options. [AutomotiveTraveler]

2009 Acura TL, Redux

With its pronounced grille and sharp trunk line, the 2009 Acura TL is like Waldo in a Caravaggio painting, easy to spot. We've parsed the rumors regarding the new TL and even seen some pics of the 2009 Acura TL last night. Thanks to Joe A., we now have more photos of a pair of what could only be TL's followed by a black 5-door Civic mule also taped off.

2009 Acura TL

Yesterday we gave you a run-down on the details and rumors we'd recently heard on the 2009 Acura TL. Today we've got confirmation on some of those rumors. Well, at least the part about what to expect from the new TL's design. Our Honda-loving buddies at the Temple of VTec have snagged themselves some spy photos of the new TL. While still very much Glad-bagged and Hefty Cinch-sacked on the front end, the rear's exhibiting only a bit of body-color-matching tape. The two shots tell us our source was spot on on everything from the dip in the rear trunk lid to... More »
