2010 Buick LaCrosse Teaser Released, Reveals Buick Badge, Little Else

GM just released this teaser photo of the 2010 Buick Lacrosse, which is set to debut at the LA Auto Show in November. The Epsilon II-platformed, front-wheel-drive, mid-size sedan receives style influence from the Buick Invicta concept and hopes to be just as sexy as the 2008 Buick Enclave crossover.

Nissan Cube USA Website Goes Live Complete With "Free" T-Shirt Offer

The preview website for the US-bound Nissan Cube has gone live, complete with a 2010 Ford Mustang-esque long-lead countdown timer. Ninety days out from the LA Auto Show reveal, the website gives us a peek at the Cube's marketing direction, which seems to be a second-year art-school student's wet dream. It's stacked deep with snappy animations, confusing artistic movies, overexposed images and a link to every known social media widget we've ever seen. But what about that free T-shirt? More »

Detroit Auto Show Continues To Dominate, Snags New Toyota Prius And Lexus Hybrid Debuts

The Detroit News is reporting group vice president and general manager for Toyota of the Americas, Bob Carter, has confirmed the 2010 Toyota Prius will be debuting at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show and will be joined by a uniquely styled and appointed version for Lexus. The Prius was set to move upmarket relative to its former iterations, but with a Lexus version now on the way, Toyota's own marketplace may be getting crowded. But the bigger story is how this news makes things far more interesting for January's Detroit Auto Show.

Cadillac CTS Coupe To Bow At LA Auto Show

Following a teaser preview at Pebble Beach this past weekend, GM announced the Cadillac CTS Coupe would finally flaunt its doorless flanks for the public at this November's 2008 LA Auto Show. Reports, as well as spy photos and official pres shots we've already seen, indicate the coupe will arrive nearly unchanged from the concept that first bowed at this year's Detroit Auto Show, featuring CTS sedan styling forward of the A-pillar but unique, more-aggressive sheetmetal from that point back. With a center-exit exhaust and a steeply raked rear window, the CTS Coupe is going to be a whole new interpretation of Caddy's design language, and we can't wait to see it at the show.

2009 Infiniti G37 Convertible Drops Top For LA

Infiniti just released this image of the 2009 Infiniti G37 Convertible. Not pictured is the folding hard top, the four seats or the complete and utter lack of trunk space. Power will be from the same 3.7-liter, 320 HP V6 as the coupe, which should easily move the extra weight. Expect more details and photos as the November LA Auto Show draws closer.

Infiniti G37 Hard Top Convertible, Sedan, Coupe Coming To LA Auto Show

Infiniti will be blowing into the LA Auto Show later this year with a bevy of new versions of their 2009 Infiniti G37, including a new hard top convertible, G37 Sedan and AWD coupe. The G37x Coupe will be an AWD sports coupe alternative for those who can't quite afford a Godzilla. The G37 and G37s sedans will finally bring over the larger, 3.7-liter VQ V6 already found in the coupe. Finally, the G37s convertible will provide a hardtop alternative to the Lexus SC and 3-series convertible. Full press release below the jump. More »

2010 Ford Mustang To Debut at LA Auto Show

Earlier today, when Ford announced plans to counter its largest ever quarterly loss, we also learned the 2010 Ford Mustang would be revealed to pumping bass and epileptic-unfriendly lights at the 2008 LA Auto Show in November. We know the car arrives in showrooms early next year, and what's a new car without the lasers and dry ice of an auto show unveiling? But why LA and not Detroit? More »

Mazda To Reveal Anonymous Concept Crossover In Moscow

Mazda is showing off their latest Nagare design ("flow" in Japanese) to the Russians today, unveiling an unnamed concept crossover vehicle and describing it as a "sporty, compact crossover SUV designed especially for the Russian market." We're not sure exactly what that means, but a smoky two-stroke under a hood made entirely of iron would be appropriate. Mazda's Nagare designs are said to represent natural flow and first appeared at the 2006 LA Auto Show. Full release and gallery after the jump.

Cadillac Readying Hybrid Chopper For LA Auto Show

The Cadillac that ain't your father's may be just be two-wheeled. Word of a new Cadillac motorcycle sporting gee whiz ethanol hybrid technology has just surfaced in D Business. The Caddy that leans will be built by V20 Consulting in New York and shown off at the next LA Auto Show. The irony of an outside company building a technology demostrator isn't lost on us, but it isn't the first time the General has collaborated with someone on a motorcycle. Just a couple hundred feet from the Detroit offices lives the first Caddy chopper, built by and currently for sale at Great American Chopper in Clawson, MI.

Hyundai Genesis Coupe Concept Reveal... Revealed... Finally

You may have missed being at the LA Auto Show in person for the reveal of the Hyundai Genesis coupe concept but now we've got some video of the reveal. The video shows off both the Korean automaker's new 300-HP RWD sports car as well as a made-for-press intro video starring a woman who may be the world's hottest spy photographer ever. You may be wondering why we'd be showing this video today — like two weeks after the LA show ended. Sheer laziness perhaps? Or maybe we just wanted to keep her the Hyundai hotness all to ourselves.

Old Media Discovers The Loverman!

As Los Jalops toil away, feeding our content into this series of tubes, we sometimes feel neglected by the ink-stained wretches who, like, do newspapers. But no more! First Señor Bumbeck makes the Los Angeles Times, and now Herr Loverman, our resident Tatra Faurecia expert, is getting quoted in the Holland (Michigan) Sentinel! [Holland Sentinel]

What'd You Like Best at the LA Auto Show?

Despite the lack of 50s era Citroens, and the fact that we'd pretty much seen 90% of the what have you at Frankfurt and Tokyo, there was still cool stuff to be found in the city of angels. Like the (snicker) 300+ mph Vector (did I tell you guys I met Gerald Weigert?), the Mazda made of clay, the RWD Hyundai Coupe and the world's first series-production hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, the Honda Clarity. And can you really have too many Godzilla, EVO and STI reveals? And how could we forget the glorious 1972 Tatra 603 cum Georges Pompidou, the Faurecia? Oh yeah, we can't. And for reals, that's the car we liked the best. You?

Toyota VP And Rainforest Action Network Scuffle After Introduction Of 2008 Sequoia

Apparently there was more going on at the reveal of the new 14 MPG 2008 Toyota Sequoia than just the reveal of an uber-humongous SUV based on the new bigger n' beefier Tundra pickup. We didn't find out until after we left LA-LA-land, but the folks from the Rainforest Action Network (RAN) snuck into the reveal to ask Bob Carter, vice president and general manager of Toyota's US division a few questions about why the automaker all about advertising green is one of the automakers suing to stop California from restricting vehicular CO2 emissions. According to Rick Popely from the Chicago Tribune, Carter, noting
"the man's media badge identified him as Dave Schembri, head of Mercedes-Benz's Smart division...knocked the video camera from the man's hands, and security guards separated the two."
Toyota spokesperson Irv Miller said later in response to the incident: ""It's probably on YouTube now. That's freedom of speech..." Yes, Irv — and as the above video proves — you're right on both counts. By the way, the best part of the video isn't the altercation — it's Carter's stunned reaction to the question asked. Preview: Jalopnik Drives the Honda FCX Clarity

You're looking at Honda's new hydrogen fuel cell powered FCX Clarity parked in front of the Malibu Presbyterian Church that was destroyed in the recent fires. As the Clarity emits water and achieves the gasoline consumption equivalent of 68 mpg, we thought it only fitting to shoot it parked in front of one of Global Warming's victims. The Clarity, of course, is supposed to help with all that — although we're still not real clear on the clarity of the environmental benefits of hydrogen created using currently readily available sources. But Honda claims they're working on that — and hey, it'll reduce your home's overall power bills. Oh yeah, almost forgot. Honda tossed us the keys to their multi-million dollar pre-production baby (LA Times Pulitzer Prize-winning auto critic Dan Neil claims it's worth "like $10,000,000 or more") and let us cruise from Santa Monica through the toasted canyons of Malibu. Full review coming this Monday.

LA Auto Show: Suzuki SX4 Makai Concept

Though it may never see the light of production, this SX4 hatchback-based convertible would be an excellent beach car (though maybe not as nice as an old Brat). The Suzuki SX4 Makai Concept is all about fun, and fun means no roof, smaller windshield and a roll bar. Also surfboards. You can't have fun without surfboards. In addition to the obvious exterior changes, the car also gets a set of four ventilated seats, lotos of music power, a Momo Sport steering wheel and color-keyed accent lighting. Press release below the jump. More »
