Trio Of New Hampshire Survivors Spans Seven Decades, Three Continents Of Car History

This is Down On The Street Bonus Edition, where we check out interesting street-parked cars located in places other than Island That Rust Forgot. FuzzyPlushroom has sent us photos of a sort of Detroit-Trollhättan-Tokyo combo platter that he captured in his home state of New Hampshire. Jump, you, to see the entire gallery and read Fuzzy P's description.

New Top Ten Stolen Cars List Shows Criminals Love The '90s

The National Insurance Crime Bureau just announced their list of the top ten most stolen cars, and surprisingly, most of them were cheaper older models from the 1990s. Forbes says it's because these cars' parts have a greater demand on the salvage market, which is probably true since every '95 Honda Civic we see on the road seems to be sporting a hood from some other Civic. Full list below the jump. More »

Civic Selling Like Flapjacks, Could Outsell Accord For First Time

Holy gas prices, Batman! Automotive News is reporting this morning strong sales of the Honda's gas-sipping Civic were up 14.8% to 111,695 units through the first four months of the year, and appeared to be looking good for May. Although we'll find out what the fifth month had to say when sales numbers are released later today, for the moment, AN's Kathy Jackson is reporting that Dick Colliver, Honda America's sales chief claims he's expecting sales of 40,000 to 45,000 units during the month. That would be enough to top sales numbers of the Accord, the reigning sales champ from the number two super best awesome automaker from the land of the rising sun. More »

2008 Honda Accord Coupe, Part Three

Why you should buy this car:
You've always bought Accords and the 2008 Honda Accord Coupe will merely be the latest. You don't know much about cars but you do know that you don't want to buy American. You fit the above criteria, but despite the physical onset of middle age you think you're too young for a four door. In reality, you're just too single. You're on the fast track to middle management and you want people to know it.

Why you shouldn't buy this car:
You know that driving fast isn't just about power. You want to buy American and that whole "Made in Ohio" versus "Assembled In Ohio" thing confuses you. You want a simple, well-engineered, economical, practical car. You work in any design-related field.

2008 Honda Accord Coupe, Part Two

Exterior Design:**
In places the 2008 Honda Accord Coupe is woefully bland, in others awkwardly edgy. And what's with the rubber strip running across the hood? Having said that, it packs space for five and their luggage into a reasonably svelte shape, we suppose that's something.

Interior Design:**
As seen here in EX-L trim it's possitvly posh. The problem is, the grayish plastic and cornicopia of buttions clash with the nice leather. Too much that you touch is cheap plastic, while what you look at is awkwardly unintuitive. The Sat/Nav screen resides several inches behind a piece of prehensile plastic and can't be viewed anytime the sun is above the horizon. The high waist-line makes for huge blind spots.

2008 Honda Accord Coupe, Part One

The 2008 Honda Accord Coupe isn't immune to road rage. Driving back to Brooklyn on the LIE, scrunched forward on the steering wheel with a back seat full of reasonably-priced, but well-designed Ikea flat pack behind, I'm minding my own business in the middle lane, overtaking the law-abiders on the right but not the flouters on the left when suddenly the Accord's rear view mirror is filled with a chrome Isuzu badge. Not content with making the same progress as everyone else, the Forward Cab driver has settled on intimidating those before him in order to ensure he arrives back at whichever depressing industrial estate he's destined for at least 30 seconds earlier than he would have otherwise.

European Honda Accord Sedan And Wagon

European Honda Accord. What do you say? It sure is... Honda-like? Really, it's an appliance of a car, designed neither to be overtly offensive to some nor blandly dull to others. The eye is drawn to the aggressive front fascia, but the conservative profile calms your pulse right back down. This is like the car equivalent of taking uppers, then downers, in an effort to achieve an even effect and feel good later. That's something it does actually really well. The materials on the inside are bumping up to the VW level of interior quality, the seats hit the sweet spot between German firm and US squishy, and the carpet in the trunk is better than the last model. Other than that, we're back our affirmation of this being a new Accord. Press release to the same effect below.

Saudi Drifting: Now With Pedestrian Safety!

So, you're sitting at your computer, chain-watching videos of FWD family sedans being driven sideways by Saudis... all the while thinking these guys have no regard for public safety. Think again! Apparently those Honda Accords have some sort of Middle East market-specific soft bumper/fender technology. Either that, or this pedestrian onlooker was just really lucky. More »

The Ten Most Outrageous Car MSRP's

When we asked if you could beat a $38K Accord in terms of ridiculous MSRP's, we didn't think it would be so easy. For one, you actually topped a $37,580 Accord with a $39,122 Accord Coupe. Then you were able to take the base model, entry-level cars and load them up with so many extra options that these once reasonable vehicles skyrocketed into foreign exotic territory. We have to thank our readers for the great ideas, as well as BMW and Porsche in particular for asking outrageous prices for their supposedly "cheap" models. Below are the ten worst domestic offenders. More »

2009 Honda Accord Tourer Spotted, Wanted

We're always interested in seeing what's going on across the pond from Honda, especially because it so often ends up over here as an Acura. We can only hope the 2009 Honda Accord Tourer's one of those lob passes from the Europeans as we've liked the look since we first saw it as the Honda Accord Tourer Concept back in Frankfurt last year. Here's a shot taken from some unknown location by a user at the Temple of VTec forums early today that leaves very little to the imagination and gets our wagon woody wickedly wooden. [via TOV]

Who Can Do Better Than A $38K Honda Accord? Win A Prize!

During the 2008 Dodge Challenger reveal, Chrysler said a few interesting things. We were told the new Challenger was faster than a BMW M5 (true only because the M5 is electronically limited)(1). We were told the Challenger had more torque than a Porsche 911 Turbo (2)(off by 40 lb.-ft). Finally, we were told It's as inexpensive as a fully-loaded Honda Accord (3)(almost true). While we were listening to him we built our own Honda Accord with every stupid option you could imagine and, lo and behold, it was worth $37,853 (still cheaper than the $37,995 MSRP for a Challenger, but not by much). This got us thinking about other ridiculous cars you could build, by MSRP. That's where you come in. More »

SEMA 2007: Honda Accord Coupe HF-S Concept

Honda just revealed a "world debut" concept car here at SEMA, and it basically represents what you can do with a new 2008 Honda Accord if you really put your mind to it. Also, you've got to use up every option possible in the Honda Factory Performance catalog — from ten years from now. It's called the Honda Accord Coupe HF-S concept, and it's got every piece of Honda kit you'd never want and you couldn't even get — even a "Cadmium Orange Pearl" color coat, which we think may be what happens when you combine an orange and cadmium at a really hot temperature. It's got LED driving lights, a wrap-around front bumper which creates a "vortex effect" to enhance high-speed aero and engine cooling. Full press release after the jump.

2008 Honda Accord Sedan - In Detail

Late last night, the embargo doors on the 2008 Honda Accord were blown open and we gave you a first-look and first-dump of all the pictures and press info we had of the new-for-2008 model of the Accord. Now it's time to dig a bit deeper and take a look at both the sedan and the coupe in a bit more detail — and we're starting with the four-door. The Honda Accord sedan's become all grown-up over the years — but we don't mean in terms of build quality and dependability. The Accord long ago moved up from plucky little upstart to the benchmark by which other automakers measure their own mid-sized sedans. No, we actually mean that no longer will other automakers be able to use them as the mid-size benchmark — because the Accord four-door's no longer a mid-size. Yup, that's correct, the Accord's now moving from the EPA's "mid-size" category into the EPA's "large sedan" classification. But that's not the only place the Accord's movin' on up.

2008 Honda Accord Revealed!

Here's the photos we've got — and the data and specs on all variations of the next Honda Accord are below the jump. We'll have specific information up and more photos on each variant tomorrow — but for tonight, here's what we've got — just as we've got it.

UPDATE: We've now got a post up for the 2008 Honda Accord Sedan filled with all of the PR photos and details in an easy to read format. More »

2008 Honda Accord Coupe, Now With New Pictures!

Forum frequenter CosmicTDI over at VWVortex Motive's "Car Lounge" has snagged himself some new Kroger parking lot shots of the 2008 Honda Accord coupe. They look better than the last ones we had — and this time we've even got a higher-res shot of the interior. Is nice. Great Success! We'll just add these ones to the last shots we'd procured of the four-cylinder, V6, coupe and interior shots of the 2008 Honda Accord — all of which we've included in galleries below. 2008 Honda Accord - Interior

A reader to the Blog all about the Auto was quick to draw their phone camera the other day and managed to have snapped a shot of what appears to be the interior of the newly redesigned 2008 Honda Accord. Wonderful — now that we've caught that shot, we can add it to our Coupe, V6 and four-cylinder shots — and finally complete the full set! [via Autoblog]
