    Ask the GT-R driver to do it four or five more times. Barring radical clutch failure, the Viper can pull off hard launches all day long. The GT-R will puke up something metallic and expensive.

    The Porschebunker has already parachuted a strike team in to investigate this obvious, pathetic fabrication. Perhaps, in the dead of night, they switched transmissions, rendering the Viper nearly immobile and unable to complete a second run.

    Wow, the commentariat has really gone into the toilet as of late. People shitting on the Viper without knowing a thing about the car or what it can do/has done.

    A stock ACR Viper has already done an 11.07 @ 129. With better track/weather conditions its a 10 second car.

    And I call BULLSHIT on the GTR. Fastest stock time I've seen is 11.40-11.50's (Road & Track, Edmunds.com). R&T got a modded GTR to 11.10 and there are some in the 10.50's heavily modded, driven by skilled drivers.

    So, if you want to "easily outpace" a Viper ACR with your Godzirra, you'd better kick down $150-200,000 for car and mods and don't forget your pro-grade driver.

    Right off the showroom with only tire pressure adjustments, both cars should be pretty close in the 1/4 mile. This video is completely misleading.

    @Uncle Bo, averting foreclosure: There is also the variable of engine output... Godzirra also has hand made engines-- guaranteed to produce at LEAST 480hp, though some make more than others...

    I dunno, I credit AWD and fancy TCS for the pull, and the ACR could've benefitted from TCS. But what do I know, I've only driven the ACR in racing sims.

    @Uncle Bo, averting foreclosure: So how's it BS? Did someone photoshop the GT-R's ET on the video? Or do you think the GT-R got the benefit of some stickier tires and maybe a little extra boost? Because really, it's not that impressive for the Viper to merely be competitive with a car that's down 150 or so horsepower on it.

    @elwood:

    1. The "victory" is not indisputable. It's anything but.

    2. Equating this video with the car's Ring times is also baloney. The Viper was driven by WTCC pro Tom Coronel, who has raced on the Ring many times. The GTR was driven by Tochio Suzuki, Nissan's chief test driver for the GTR. Who was driving the two drag racing cars, Dil and Do?

    3. There is no f'n way that GTR is putting out only 480hp, or whatever it came with stock. Prolly more like 550-600 hp, similar to other modded cars with similar proven ET's.

    I dont think the GT-R really stomped the Viper.

    Dont get me wrong.. the Viper is a POS.

    But i dont think either one of those guys really knows how to drive well... like most people who drive these cars.. pretty much equals up to lots of money, little bit of brains and quarter inch pecker.

    But does launch control really do anything besides dump the clutch at 4,000RPM or so? Shouldn't an ACR driver with a good clutch be able to do the same thing? Or is the difference really the initial AWD hookup?

    @The Name's Ash78, Housewares: No, you can only dump the clutch if you have launch control, but that voids the warranty. That's what I learned on the internet, anyway.
