The longest-running show to not jump the shark showed exactly why it hasn't. Homer's old beater-mobile got one too many dings rear-ending the back of a Pacer look-alike (with what we're assuming can only be an aftermarket airbag) and needed some time in the ol' repair shop. Homer finds himself behind the wheel of a loan-er brand-agnostic luxe-mobile with a remarkable similarity to the new Cadillac CTS. The inside jokes run freely throughout the episode's side storyline, and include what may be the funniest car-related Simpsons line since the Canyonero commercial song. To wit:

"I never dreamed an American car designed in Germany assembled in Mexico with parts made in Canada could be so amazing!"
We couldn't believe it either, which is why we included the clip above. (Hat tip to vwminispeedster!)]]>

<![CDATA[Desperate Housewives Shows Off a Crushed 2008 Cadillac CTS - Wanna Guess Which Color?]]>
So we heard what RanWhenParked was screaming about on the earlier post on Caddy moving down under. Cadillac's been showing off the new 2008 CTS in basically only one color — can anyone guess which color? If you need a hint, check out the clip from last night's cliff-hanging episode of Desperate Housewives.

<![CDATA[MT names Cadillac CTS Car of the Year, Needs Help Paying For Gas]]> Motor Trend has chosen the Cadillac CTS as its 2008 Car of the Year, attributing the win to sharp styling, great driving dynamics and luxury value — pretty much, the car rocked every category. For the General, it marks the first time in ten years that the company has taken home MT's top award. The Corvette won the Golden Calipers in 1998. Cadillac also has a special place in COTY history: Motor Trend's very first Car of the Year award went to Cadillac in 1949 when the award was given to an entire company, not just a single car. The CTS beat out the Audi A5/S5, Chevrolet Malibu, Dodge Grand Caravan, Honda Accord, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Scion xB and Volvo V70/XC70 finalists to earn the award. The testing consists of a barrage of track tests and a 28.5-mile road loop to explore everyday driving characteristics. And finally, in a sign that gas prices really are out of control, Texaco has become the official fuel of Motor Trend by supplying all of the gas for COTY testing. Full press release from the General after the jump.

Cadillac CTS Honored as Motor Trend's 2008 Car of the Year

Hot-selling sport sedan praised for design and technology

DETROIT - The editors at Motor Trend, one of the world's premiere automotive authorities, announced today that they have chosen the Cadillac CTS as the 2008 Motor Trend Car of the Year.

"Cadillac is truly honored to receive one of the world's most coveted automotive awards," says Jim Taylor, Cadillac general manager. "This is a very meaningful reward for our team that created the all-new 2008 CTS, and a powerful statement to consumers everywhere about Cadillac's product renaissance."

The Motor Trend Car of the Year honor highlights the wide acclaim the 2008 CTS sport sedan has earned around the world and with consumers since its launch earlier this fall. Luxury cars buyers are responding similarly, with CTS U.S. sales jumping 75% in October.

The full report from Motor Trend appears in the January issue of the magazine (on newsstands in early-December) and online at www.motortrend.com. Cadillac was the first automaker ever to win Motor Trend Car of the Year in the magazine's inaugural year of 1949, and again in 1952 and 1992.

<![CDATA[Kate Walsh Enjoys Steak After Being Turned On By Her 2008 Cadillac CTS]]>
The attempted sexy-ing up of the Caddy brand with Kate Walsh's deep n' sultry voice continues with this second Modernista! ad for the new 2008 Cadillac CTS. Apparently, when the Grey's Anatomy star's done being turned on by her new CTS, she enjoys a steak and chocolate while she reads gossip mags dressed only in Italian shoes in clubs for men only. Hmm, sounds like the type of gals we met at a bachelor party for a buddy of mine. Except we had to pay money for them. But whatever, we're just happy there weren't any dragons involved.

<![CDATA[Does The New 2008 Cadillac CTS Turn You On?]]>
It looks like the new Cadillac CTS is the linchpin of a campaign by Boston advertising mavens Modernista! to sex-up the brand. Which is why they've got Grey's Anatomy star Kate Walsh speaking to us in her sultry voice, telling us the real question she asks when she gets into a car — "When you turn your car on, does it return the favor?" Our question we ask when hearing that particular question is "Which box do we check to get that particular vehicular option?"
