    Just to clarify one point. We did not decline the 30 minute grace period that the rules allow. We never got one. We had just enough time to get our hood ornament off and that's it.

    The Pimpala's punishment fit the crime. It has a bigger handling pig than any of the other american iron, and driven both poorly and aggressively. The team did salvage their medallion before the destruction commenced.



    But the team also declined the offered 30 minute grace period to salvage stuff off their car before the destruction commenced.



    Tools included an axe and a baseball bat, and I also saw the meanest looking five year old with a fauxhawk and a little lavender hammer taking up position.



    To give the team credit, they immediately set to work to put the car on the track and worked up to the last minute to get it running. They also sent a runner for a whole new spare engine and the rest of the parts needed to get back on the track.



    Their teamate driving the Politia car screwed them by not honoring the black flag that the pimps had the tower throw on the car, so they could pull one part that the Pimpala needed. Greatness declined.

    I know how the wiring harness was cut, as our guy did that nice piece of work. That was not using wire snips, it was just a file. There was another guy who used snips under the dash. They almost got the car going again BTW.

    While it seems unfair, and maybe just a tad over-the-top, this is some ingenious and downright cleverly sadistic punishment.



    Had anyone addressed the blind spot the yo! I gotcher bling grille! created?



    That might have been the whole problem.



    2000 Impala...that's the problem.

    This innovation just makes me want to squeeze my way onto a team even more! I'll be the one in line with the halligan tool and the super big Stanley FatMax Fubar!



    This should absolutely be a standard LeMon's procedure for the People's Curse.

    No offense to anybody who grooves on these cars. But for me, it isn't an Impala, unless it's RWD, and wallows like a wild Siberian boar in the summer mud when asked to negotiate a turn at speed. These FWD things are doppelgangers of the worst sort, and should all be extirpated at the earliest opportunity, with extreme prejudice.

    @DoctorNine's D9 Cat: The W-body still has plenty of wallow. It doesn't compare to the great Impalas, but I think Bud from Repo Man would drive one. By that standard, it's still deserving of the name.

    As an owner of a 2000 Impala I'm wondering where they got an Impala for under $500(purchase price of vehicles for LeMons if I'm not mistaken) never mind two of them. I'd someone is pulling a fast one. It's a shame to see an Impala torn apart.

    @Robert Plumer: As a member of the Vlad the Impala/Pimpala super team (think Jack Roush, only on a budget), I can tell you that we got the cars at auction from the City of New York. Think NYPD leftovers.



    They get rid of a hundred or more of these things every month. EVERY MONTH. If the airbags blow, the cars are sold as "parts only," meaning never to be registered again.



    We have notarized bills of sale for the cars, which is far more than most people can say at LeMons.

    From what I saw in the first 15 minutes of the race Saturday, that award for bad driving is well deserved. The driver of the Pimpala deserved what happened to his car.

    I was the wielder of the cheater bar... It also had a head on it - a la a pick-axe. It was used on our car and several others not only as a cheater bar but also to quickly move body panels off of tires and bend suspension bits back into place.

    Ohhh, that is good. Especially using the cutters. I'm sure when the hand tool idea was announced the Pimps may have thought they had a chance to get back into the race, but the grief they saw applied to their car must have been pretty brutal. The pictures make it look bad anyway. You'll have to let us know if they get it back on track.

    Explain to me why a demo saw doesn't count as a hand tool? You do use your hands to control it. Would a Molotov Cocktail count as a "hand tool?"
