That shift knob speaks volumes. Make it a globe, make it a skull, make it a soccer ball, make it the DeathStar, make it a balloon or a disco mirror ball, but by all that's reasonable, WTF?

Still, it must have been magnificent before it was circumcised.

You know what'd be awesome? Somebody slapping together a Vector. How many did Weigert actually manage to build? Each one was a little different from the others. Crazy-ass Donovan dragster engine (now with water cooling!), doorstop profile, linear gauges.

Imhoff aside - how can you not respect a guy who builds his dream car from individual pieces of metal? - is there a special reason we give replica builders such a hard time? Aside from the crappily done ones, that is. I mean, this one looks not too bad and actually has enough power to back up the looks.

I've often compared Italian supercars to Jewish girlfriends: they're loud, obnoxious, high-maintenance and not likely to get you laid. So in the same vein I guess today's Disablo is a kinda-horny lady mechanic with a Star of David tattoo. She ain't perfect, but she can be a helluva lot of fun.

Strip off that pussy TBI and screw on a double-pumper. Life's too short for dumbass electronics.

Dashboard looks a little sparse - needs a couple more gauges. Otherwise, not too bad for silk-purse-out-of-sow's-ear project. Problem is, everyone knows it's a fake because a real Diablo owner would never pull up to a 7-Eleven for a six pack of Old Milwaukee and some Slim Jims. If you need to copy something, how about something most people wouldn't recognize, like a Cizeta Moroder?

All in all though, this one's pretty nice. I'd drive it. Proudly. Just remove the badges and change the shift knob.

The car gets better when you take parts OFF of it.

Hey, I thought of a great Hawaiian expression for this one: this Lambo is "Grown, not flown".

Let's say you have a very attractive girlfriend, but then she becomes obsessed with some celebrity and gets a bunch of plastic surgery and new clothes in an attempt to look just like said celebrity. So in the end, you no longer have a hot girlfriend, you just have a second-rate celeb impersonator with serious mental issues.

That's sort of how I feel about Lambo kits. Fantastic gusto and workmanship, but I still think it should have been a Cobra or a Se7en or something.
