I really wonder why Toyota built the Venza instead of #9...

I too am digging the hell outta that 021C. I think the grille could use a little tweaking, but I agree with Elhigh: it's a future Datsun 510, and that's awesome.

They should also have various Pantone colors to choose from...

    The 021C -

Modern version of this... (think it would sell?)

@Vintage Racer is sooooo getting fired for this: As a cheap, boxy, yet totally awesome Ford, it makes me think of this instead:

Judging by the flurry of responses, FoMoCo would be wise to dust off the 021C and see how hard it would be to put it into production. Personally, I'm hoping it would be a piece of cake.

I was actually looking through one of my old concept car books from the early 1990s. What is scary is how close the profile of the 1989 Ford Ghia Saguaro matches the Toyota Prius. [www.concoursclassics.com]

@Mad_Science: Thanks for posting a pic. I usually fail without the preview. The really strange thing is the Ford had 3 rows of seats and was sort of a AWD cross-over.

@P161911 now with M POWER!: In the '70s or so, the Motor Industry Research Center (MIRA) in Britain did a lot of work finding the ideal shape for a five-seater, four-door car. It had to have as little drag as possible while allowing for efficient packaging of the passengers and mechanical components; the end result looked pretty much exactly like a Prius. Of course, carmakers looked at it and said that it was horribly ugly and would never sell.

    or Pronto Cruiser?

The 300 hemi C concept didn't appear until 2000.. so can't have that here.

Funny clip. Gawd he looks so young. I love it when he starts explaining the propulsion system of the "hybrid hybrid" and turns to the camera and says "Are you listening to this? this could be the future! Now sit up and pay attention."

    Too bad nobody did.

Yes, there's an entire motor industry flourishing behind my corneas.

Damn you for making me wonder if anyone makes a kit to convert my XJS into an XK180. As much as I hate rebodies, making a legitimate Jag into a different Jag that wasn't ever produced, would be at least less reprehensible than a Fauxrarri.

    BTW, the kit exists. [www.xk180.com]

You know, when I was 15 years old I thought the Buick Cielo was totally awesome. I wanted every car to have a three-part retracting roof. Ten years later, the whole thing just looks kind of silly.
