Where the fuck did all of these go? I've seen exactly one Land Cruiser from before the Clinton years in the last six months, a blue FJ40 that I haven't managed to find parked on public property yet...

At the dealership we called these bad boys Land Crushers. The salesmen would spit, walk big and scratch their balls and say, "Yeah, who says the Japs can't build 'em big!" Idiots. And each LC invariably had a dent or scratch from the transporter - they just couldn't imagine a Toyota anything needing every spare inch between the rails.

For a middle 80s Japanese anything, this critter looks surprisingly good. Where's the rust? There's supposed to be a lot of rust.

Not as cool as "the Antichrist" in the Gods Must Be Crazy but still very cool.

I've recently seen a few early 90's RHD JDM Land Cruiser Prados around Toronto. I don't know what the difference is between a regular Land Cruiser like this and the Prado version but they are friggin cool looking.

I love these trucks. They are just about perfect.

Alas, they are as rare as any other Japanese iron of the same vintage, because they just don't hold up. Those that are around tend to not leave the garage for half the year, and are really expensive when they change hands.

Nice. I saw an older Landcruiser two-door driven by some hipster chick at the Home Depot yesterday. Thing had a red front clip and blue everything else, so I'd guess it got some use out in the world.

Despite the rust-monster's appetite for 80's Japanese metal, I still see a handful of these trucks around - I remember driving by a house in Toronto that had two or three of them. I'd love one if they didn't retain their value so well (and if it averaged a little better than 12mpg).
