It doesn't get any rustier than New Hampshire, and I've seen exactly one in my lifetime. (It's on DOTSBE.) I don't remember ever seeing a second-gen, though I might have as a child. Hell, even the third-gen with the pop-up headlights is about as common as unicorn shit around here.

Sadly, the Accord went from being a slightly-pricey daily driver to an overpriced Japanese Luxo-boat. No hatchback or wagon these days, either.
Oh well, those were the good-old-days of the Accord, IMHO.

A buddy of mine had one of these in high school, a diarrhea red-brown 5-speed, and had a stereo system installed that was probably worth as much as the car.

But I digress. That thing has a very Chevette/Firearrow US type hatch-look about it.

Actually, it's probably the oldest Japanese car I've ever seen more than once.

I'm sorry, but I'm gonna have to ask you to apologize to Mr. Accord for that comment. You go over there and tell him you didn't mean it, that he was one of the most important cars of his day, and that it's too bad that soon there will be none on the road any longer.

Besides, we've had a K-car and an '80s Mustang on here, and those are still monthly sightings up here in New Hamster.

I've been sort of passively on the lookout for a mint one of these for years; I'd snap it up in a second, especially if I could find a gray '85 hatch.

Nah, I'd say it was more the Civic and the Corolla that started it all. They were both extremely durable little machines in an era when owners of American cars were excited to get to 100K.
The Accord and Camry were more like the nails in the coffin. Let's hope we rise from the dead. If we do, watch for the following models:
Pontiac Vampire - for the nightclub set
Chrysler Mummy - a minivan
Dodge Skeleton - a stripped down performance machine
Ford Zombie - for overworked commuters
Mercury Corpse - wait, what?
