I love this ad. Basically a put up or shut up to all the guys who sit behind computers dictating who should save what car. (As I silently wait for that car to hit the yard so I can hack off the panels necessary for the project....)
This is in a lot better shape than the MGB I've seen rusting in a corner of the local mechanic's shop. If I had the time, money, and sanity to spend, I might fix up one of these. But even given unlimited resources, this would still be fairly far down on my list of project cars.
BGT's are nice cars. and this one's a little rough but pretty much all together. Oh, wait, what's that? The lid to wiper fluid reservoir is missing and one of the tires looks a bit low. So sorry, pass.
Still, $900 isn't ridiculous money to be asking for this, especially in California, where old cars seem to hold their values remarkably well.
An MGB-GT isn't exactly huge, and $900 isn't quite stupid money, but I'm afraid I don't have any means of a) picking it up and bringing it home, or b) a place to store it.
Somebody else please adopt this cute little money pi...er...runabout!
@Murilee Martin: But how much is interchangeable between the MGB GT and the Midget? Besides, without even looking at the location of the MGB I already know its probably over 3,000 miles away. ;)
Is it me or does this car have factory AC? Maybe that's a smog pump but the vents in the center of the dash look like AC to me. What do you think it is?

@my beater Mercedes lacks reverse: Heh, I look forward to the day we all go metric. My family's a bunch of packrats, too, and I'm convinced that someday this will be worth a lot of money.

@Mike the Dog wants his Preview Button back!: Okay, you win! I was born in 1984 anyway, so all this stuff was probably already obsolete by the time I even came into existence.

@Truth thru Physics: The Frogmasters MGB-GT was as quick around the track as most of the RX-7s and E30s and it never broke. If the drivers hadn't been total suicidal black flag magnets, it coulda been a contender.
@McLarenF1LM: Hey, it's so small, you could hide it on your ship, right? And work on it in your spare time. You know any chopper pilots who'd hoist it for you?
Great excitement at the PnP as a chopper swoops in and airlifts the little MG to safety...

Someone has got to be able to sell a grand worth of stuff off this machine. Hood, most of the interior, trunk lid...bumpers...
Man. I'm glad I'm not a BMW guy. I'd be looking for a cheap-assed flight.

Hey! I'm saving a can of R-12 for my garage wall-of-fame.
I wish my wife and I had kept the Motorola 'brick' phone. There's other stuff I'll keep over time...like SAE wrenches.

1. Live 3000 miles away
2. Am in the Navy
3. Home is a 1000 miles away
4. Have no place to store it at home.
Someone please save it! An MGB-GT is too cool to crush.
